looking to see if i can fit the nitto 555r drag radial in 275/40R17 form on my 8 inch rims? i Currently run 245/45R17 street tires. Will 275s fit my 8 inch rims?

Look at the tire brand website - they usually have a chart that tells you what rims they suggest for a 275. They will probably say 8.5"-11" or something like that.

For most brands, a 275/40 would be squeezed on an 8" wheel. But those Nitto tires are narrower than most ... their 275 looks like other manufacturers' 255 or 265 tires. The 275 Nittos will go on 8" wheels without too much pinching, the late-model Mustang guys are doing it all the time.

It's still not optimum, a 9" wheel would be better, but it can be done with those particular tires.
