The movie "Taken" starring Liam Neeson doesn't open til Friday but I managed to get an early copy of the film and Wow! This movie kicks butt, literally. Plenty of action and shootem up. Neeson is impressive as a recently retired ex-government agent whose teenage daughter was kidnapped while vacationing in France.
I definitely recommend seeing this movie.

Have the previews been around for a long time? For some reason I thought this was on DVD already

I've already seen it as well. The perfect guy for that role. I love how cool, calm and collective he is when all that is going on.

One of the techs on my shop somehow had it playing on his computer this morning.
I don't agree with video piracy , but I watched a few minutes of it.

It was FANTASTIC !
The fighting is BRUTAL !
Makes Borne Identity and Batman Begins look tame.
I can't wait to see it ! ( at the theater )
I figure they deserve to make some money off it.
I don't want to rip them off.

Does that mean we actually had a movie released before you guys? Really enjoyed this movie. I do like Liam Neeson, and Luc Besson did a good job with it too.

You Aussies have all the luck !

Sometimes :)

This was a role well and truly suited to Liam though. The quiet don't mess with me attitude.

There's one thing I noticed , the version I saw at the movies was a less violent than the "bootleg" version I saw on the computer.
I think , they edited the U.S. theater release.
Maybe it's because I'm in the South ??

I noticed this with Iron Man also.
The version I saw at the Drive-In was different than the version I saw on DVD.
Some scenes were longer and had different events.

It is not common for a movie to be 'edited' to get the MPAA / Classification rating at the Cinema and then be released with a different rating on DVD.

So a movie may go for a PG-13 (M rating in Australia) to enable access to a wider audience base whilst at the box office, but then go for a higher rating on DVD to enable a better 'cut' of the film for those that will buy it.

Taken for example is PG-13 in the US but holds a MA classification in Australia (which is 15+) so your version may well have been cut from what our version is.
