Damn. I put my vacation in last year for this event. That sucks. Other than RTTH are there any events equal in the south-east?

I did the same thing, I put off for vacation last year so that I could finally make it. I'm just gonna hit up RTTH instead.

Larry, how about a Pro-Touring.com track day and autocross since Road Atlanta is available now from May 15-17, with DSE as a sponsor ??? I know, I know. I was just day dreaming out loud.

I would love to. I'm sure we could get a couple hundred people but not enough to fund it. With our new event being the next month I think it would be too close together.
This sucks so bad, I FINALLY have a car worth driving there and Whammo - the event is cancelled!!! dammit.

E-mail them. Maybe if they get inundated with requests they will bring it back?

I had 7 car events that I wanted to go to this year.
And I was gonna' have to skip 2 or 3 because I couldn't afford them all.
So this actually helps me narrow them down a bit.
All things happen for the best.
This just gives me more time and money for Run to the Hills 5 and Motor State Challenge.

That's a shame, we had a really good time there last year and we just went to spectate.
We were looking forward to this year.

I can't and won't say anything other than this.
If you have hotel reservations you may want to wait a week before canceling them. Something might come up.

Year One replied. They didn't say much other than it is a great event and that in better economic times it will return. I hope so. I can't afford to go or fly to any farther away events. Maybe my car will be done by the 2010 event....LOL.

that SUCKS!
The daily rent for Road Atlanta is $25,000. Plus expenses. YR1 rented it for 3 days for their show. The math on this is brutal.

Maybe they should have it at Buttonwillow Raceway here in CA.. not as pretty but it can be had for well under $5k a day.
$25k a day is silly money.. even with some workers that must equate to a huge profit margin for Road Atlanta.

Hell ,
didn't we talk a while back ( pipedreaming actually ) about renting Daytona ?
It was "only" $35,000 a day .

OK
I have talk it over with Larry an got some advice from Bill Howell.
How many of you would still come to Ga.for a Pro-Touring RTTH kind of like Bill put's on in Tenn.
I have been working on locating a big parking lot for a sat. auto cross, an we are working on getting a Drag strip that is close by as well for Sunday.
The Canton Cruz night is this same weekend. We would all meet at my shop after the auto cross then Cruz over to the Canton show
There is around 400 to 600 car on a reg. night. lots of place's to eat an shopping for the women if they so desire.
There are some loose ends to work out. We would put together a place that will accommodate all of us for a dinner on sat night.
Friday night would be hang out at our toy box to live music an bench race.
I also have tool's an a lift at the toy box if we should need to work on anything.
So lets here it what do you guy's think?????

That sound's great. what date's will this happen on?
Rag-Rat
01-30-2009, 03:52 PM
Great idea. The date is key for me. I have to put in for additional vacation days almost 6 months in advance. Would miss the Road Atlanta track but watching the autocross and looking at nice cars are what it's all about. Make it happen.

You know I'm there David, less than 30minutes from my house. Let's do it! Let me know if you need any help I'll be glad to.
I should be able to come by and hang out. No car to beat on or show but would love to get out and see others. Well, I might have something I can bring but we will see on that. School should be done by then. I'd make it over on Saturday for sure.
I'm sure the hills may be busy but there are plenty of fun roads and scenery not far from any of this.

David can you post info. on the location and local hotel's.
My Wife an i are going to be Checking on Hotels this week an still looking an talking to people about parking lots for the auto X.
I will talk to Larry an we will start a tread just for that info.
We came in to this a little late in the game to try an put this together. If we had known sooner that Year One wasn't going to be able to put there event on.
We would have started sooner.
But we are determined to make it happen.
Thanks For the support.
More info to come.
