wow that's a lot of panel replacement. I guess you don't have much to chose from over there though do you? How hard would it be to say buy a car in England and ship it over? Just curious. Thanks for posting the pics

Brother, I hope you have a heated garage because it looks like you are gonna be working in it for a little while. What's that white stuff all over your driveway outside? That's great to see someone who would put that much time and money into an American musclecar when I know what it's like to buy and ship parts overseas and the headaches that can follow (I used to sell speed parts to British customers). Keep the pictures flowing once you start repaneling.

Why not just buy a autocraft pan or a ls1? it seems like a lot of work just to make the car fit the pan instead of the pan fitting the car. IF that is a 4l60e it should have fit with no mods to the tunnel and if you use the edelbrock mounts it will put the motor to as stock location that you would not need a mod drive shaft.

The Camaro ls1 pan don´t fit and the GM LH8 oil pan the engine seats to high at the front for my taste. autocraft pan and Moroso lsx oil pan seat lower than the k member . And you do need to modify the tunnel if you don’t like the engine to look like quarter mile car wheeling and the start.

here you see how the engine fitting well and it takes no more than 30 min to put the 4L60e to the engine under the car

How much extra clearance due you think the Caprice tunnel gives you? I want to clear a 6 speed.

Love the project.

If you were in the States I have a friend who would want your torque tube left over from the swap.

We put GTO seats in a 70 Chevelle we build a couple of years ago. The fronts sit pretty high my buddy and I are both 6'3"). the back seat can be cut down to fit. The seat back will be really high but enough off the bottom and it fits nice.

We had another shop dye leather to match and removed the GTO logo from the seats. In the end it would have been cheaper to buy after market seats for the fronts.

They are beautiful though!

Ok removing seat cover from GTO 2004-06 1o1
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseats4-1.jpg
Start with loosen these 4 springs
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseat1-1.jpg
with them out of the way you can lift up the plastic
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseats3-1.jpg
now you can get the headrest mounted
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseats2-1.jpg
all you have to do is push is push this in
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseats1-1.jpg
and then it is lose and can be removed
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseats-1.jpg
Now the Seat Recline Lever YOU can´t remove it and you don't need to
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/04/HowtoreplacealeatheronGTOseat-1.jpg
the cover comes off without removing it

Nice progress. Just curious, with your GTO seats, did you cut the bottoms down at on on the front seats? I have the same seats and am trying to fit them in my 68 Acadian (Nova) and I find they sit quite high. I was hoping to keep the power controls, but trying to find a way to bring them down some. Keep up the good work.

No I didn't cut the seat. I was gonna use the GTO floor in one piece in to the chevelle and lower
the floor. But it was not an easy task in my little garage to do it well so I decided against it
but I'm working on it......to find a good solution for it

I don't think the Corvette pan is going to work. Based on the dimensions of the batwing pan it is to big to fit the chevelle without modifications. Do you plan on modifying the crossmember or firewall. With your fab skills it probably won't be a problem.

out through my build I have make it a point of taking befor and after photos,
but something went wrong I for got to take a photos of the chassis before I started to work on it
so this one will have to do :) ok maybe the chassis wasnt as bent as the line it was round 20 to 30 mm
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/10/chevelleiuppger783-1.png
Now ween the chevelle was take to Burnout 2009 car show no time was to find the cause of front end missed alignment problem,
chassis front end was pulled together with chain pulley to allot radiator support and fenders to line up.
and no jigs was used on this fix just a little love
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/04/hererhammarfyririg-1.jpg
now it will line without a help from a pully

that's tons of work.. tons... but a great outcome

I was pondering the batwing also... but went with the standard ls3 vette pan.
