Well you know the feeling of dread you have in the middle of the night and the phone rings, you don't want to answer it cause you fear the worst.
Daughter fine, Ma's car probably a total loss. Pontiac G6 took the hit remarkably well and the fact she walked (limped away) away says alot for todays safety features. Long story short, she swirved to miss a deer and got sucked into the snow bank on the side of the road head on into a tree. We have a very big deer problem where we are and always say, take the deer not the shoulder, but thats hard when your a new driver. She was checked out at the hospital and is fine sept for a fractured knee cap. I'm just extremely happy that now days you stand alot better chance of walking away and she is ok. There could be another silver lining tho because we have good insurance and also bought gap insurance, we'll see how that works. If all works out it will get fully paid off. Since the wife and I will both be laid off soon it might be one less payment we need, still have two other newer vehichles. Lost the other daughters blazer to the same deer problem a couple months ago.
Waist of a brand new set of snow tires a few days earlier, someone at the wrecking yard will get a good set.
The pics really don't show how bad it is, both front wheels tip in about 1-2 inches on the top and the motor is pushed back hard. Front frame horns are like pretzels. But the cabin doors still open fine.
We live very rural and had to drive a ways to find the car on the highway, when we got close to it I noticed a pair of shoes in the middle of the road and recognized them, I new the car was close then. The daughter had started to walk to find a house to use a phone and scared herself say she was affraid of being eaten by a couger, blew her shoes and run probley a 1/4 mile and 200 yard up a frozen snowy driveway barefoot. She carries a cell but it lost power after the impact and she couldn't remember how to turn it on. Both signs of trauma shock, she and us are very lucky.
I would like to thank GM again for there safety features. And those who enforce and update.
