supports are the same, but sounds like it doesn't matter if you are going to cut the car all up anyway. There are two supports for the large and small radiators. Your definition of reasoneably priced grills is probably way different than the people who actually have useable grills. Plan on spending a grand for anything worth having, more for anything nice and complete. There are a couple reproductions out there, and the added chrome and lamps, etc really add to the cost. The 70 has some really good show qualityreproductions , but I haven't seen much on the 71 models. Check out www.beaparts.com (http://www.beaparts.com) for the nice 70 grills.

I'm not sure on the core supports.Make sure the 71 grill your looking for is for a 71.Alot of people think you can convert a 70-72-73-74 to a 71,but you can't,because the fenders are different {the dual headlight structure is all welded to the fenders on the 71}You could change the fenders, along with the grill.I have a really cherry 70 grill, but no 71's.Ron http://mysite.verizon.net/ls6ron/

thanks for the input. i did not realize the headlights where part of the fenders not the core support.i love the look of the 71 grill with 4 headlights.
