I don't know if this is the right place for this, but since I never started a build thread I thought it was as good a place as any. I credit this site with getting me on the right track with my car, but I'll be the first to admit that it's got a way to go to be truly considered a P-T car. Besides owning for almost 25 years before getting it running, this car is special because it was made on the first day of production.

I'm not quite done with it, but getting it featured in a magazine is a pretty big deal for me.

I read that article when it came out. Nice car. It is a shame that you don't have the correct parts for a proper restoration, but you made the most of it!

Pontiac guys get pretty hardcore about their Pontiac parts and origination from which plant and originality. I don't see the same uproar with LS motors in Camaros or Firebirds.

I did the same thing by Pro-Touring a 4 speed Sprint HO 68 Coup (less than 5000). You kept a Pontiac motor in it. That will cut it down the murmers. I put a SBC and in mine since I had one already. I am going to keep the 4.1 Overhead Cam/Sprint emblems on mine and see how it goes. Not as much hp as you. Still respectable.

It didn't get a bunch of love, only the polite "that's different". Well now it will get some attention.

I used a motor I already had, but went a similar route you did.

I have a buddy that has 12 Pontiacs, Firebirds (mostly bandits) Grand Prix's, and he picked up a 68 400 vert right by my house. It is the same color as yours and now that I have shown him your article I believe we may have another convert to our group. "Maybe I should take it pro-touring?" You may see this car with some ideas of yours implemented. As you can see he is already ready to rip it apart. He bought my original subframe.
