Hey guys,

Great site. I have a '68 RS that I have had for 25 yrs and I am starting a complete resto. My numbers matching 327 disappeared years ago so I am going with the pro-touring approach instead of the all original approach.

I have acquired a 68 327/275 hp engine but haven't decided if I am going to use it or just put in in storage.

My car is blue with blue deluxe interior, factory a/c power steering 2.56 rear end.

I am definitely going to do the 4 wheel disc conversion but I am not sure which direction I am going to go with the drivetrain. My goal is to have a super dependable, AIR CONDITIONED, great handling and good gas mileage car since I plan on driving it a LOT.

I am also sure that I want to heavily modify the suspension and am debating on whether or not to change the subframe with something like the one Heidt's offers that is complete for around 4 grand.

I know the 2.56 gear needs to go if I run an overdrive tranny instead of the th350 I have now. I have been told a 3.55 would be ideal to run with a 700r4 and am seriously considering that route.

I welcome any input from you guys who have already put a lot of things to the test already.

Thanks, Tim Thompson

P.S. How do the 2" drop spindles work out for those of you who have them?

Welcome and if you have the money go with a 4l60e instead of the 700r4
