Well for x-mas I bought some new rear tires. Everything I read stated that nittos run smaller at least their drag radials. I wanted something that would hook better and since I burnt my 285's off I went and bought these. I know what some are going to say and thats fine but I mounted these on 9.5 rims and they fit good so heres some pics showing howmuch bulge there is. I wont be able to try them out for a few months.

The 315mm 555DR fits a perfect niche to me. Right in between the 285 and the 315. It could either be a wide 285 or a narrow 315. I am glad they make it the size they do. Those look GREAT on those 9.5 rims.

i wonder how they would look on a 10inch wheel....what do they measure across, from sidewall to sidewall???

Those look great.. I wish they were a 26" diameter though.

Close to 12" they are almost the same size as the 285's I took off. They are the same height as the 285's also, but they had no tread left. So visually no one will notice they are .2 shorter.

Good deal...I'm planning that same setup on a 9.5" wide wheel and I already have the tires, glad to hear that worked for you,I knew it would...

i dont have them mounted on 10s yet, but my 305/35/20 looks WAY wider than my 295/50/15's. probably a bad comparison, especially since they arent mounted, but i cant see a 315 measuring the same as a 285.

I know, but I like to have the rear tire just a shade taller for that reason... tread goes bye bye. I'm running a 285/40-17 so its 26" rear and 25.7" front.

Either way I think they'll look great, post up pics when you get them on.

I think they look geat! I always like it when the sidewall sticks out farther than the rim. The pic of the Corvette that skybu posted that shows them on an 11" wide wheel doesn't look right to me. The wheel is just too wide, with the lips of the rim sticking out too far. I'm actually planning to use 285/40-17's on 17 x 9.5" wheels for the rear of my my car. I've seen another that looks good too, 295/45-17 M/T ET Street Radials on 17 x 9.5". I might have that set as a backup drag setup.

im running a 285/40/17 now....i love the look...i just want something a little wider and taller...im thinkin the 295/45/17 M/Ts are the way to go...my 285s on a 10inch look like the 555rs 315s on a 11inch wheel.....

I don't like that look either but they handle better like that. I was running a 285 if you look at my pt garage pics. Post some picks of the mickeys when you guys get them, by the way nice truck.

Bingo...when the tire is equal or slightly narrower than the wheel, you have less tire squirm and react quicker.

Good deal...I'm planning that same setup on a 9.5" wide wheel and I already have the tires, glad to hear that worked for you,I knew it would...im have seen the sumi.s 315s mounted on 9.5s in person... they buldge quite a bit and not the good 15" buldge either. there are like a v type buldge and not big balloons due to the smaller side walls.

take it from some one with personally experience ive has 3 different type of 315s on my DD and the nittos are unbeleavabe SMALL for 315s. i removed goodyear gsd3s to but the nittos on and there are both 315/35/17s and i measuresd them next to each other and the nittos was over 1 1/4" smaller... and since they are so "square" that helps also so year you can do it but dont expect it to look like his.
people have shown pics of nitto dr 315s next to other brands 275s and they are the same size lol
mine are almost at the tread bars and i think in gonna go back to the goodyears since the grip better wet last longer and are bigger. plus i never really race the car anymore so no need for DRs

I have my 315 nittos and waiting for my 17x11" rims to come in 4-6 weeks...I will post pictures. I have 275/40/17 wideovals (firestone) on a 9.5" rim, measuring side wall to side wall the 315 is almost 2" wider....which would be about right, there is 25.4 mm per inch.

Yea they are on the car now. Great tire handles good, using them for autocross without any problems and they hook damn good on the street.
