I ordered a pair of wheels from my local tire store (Les Schwab for those in the Pacific Northwest) about 6 months ago and haven't seen anything yet. I haven't heard before that it took them this long. Especially since the economy is so ruff.

The guy at Les Schwab has contacted them many times and gets the answer of the "company sold or merged and the wheel quality is questionable and it will be a while before the wheels are built. Any one have a little insider trader info on this. Is this the truth or a smoke screen. I beleive my guy, just wonder what the other end of his phone calls are coming from.

When I heard about Boyds death I hoped something possible like this would not happen so I went down and ordered my front set of wheels. I ordered the rears from the same dealer and it took about a month and a half to get them. Now I'm affraid I will not be able to get a pair to match them, and unfortunately since the economy is going south and the auto market is sagging, the zinc mine that I work at has announced as a nice Christmas present that we will be shutting down in about a month and a half now. :crying: So my time is running out for the funds.

I would of ordered from some place else but I have an account at Les Schwabs and I am able to pay for them over time.

If anyone has info it would be appreciated to find out the true story or if it just is now taking this long.

Or if someone happens to have a set of Boyd Coddington JYDog Old School 18 x 8", 4.75 B.S., 5 on 4 & 3/4 pattern. :enguard: I'd fight ya for um.

Thats the problem, I spent many months deciding on this wheel and tire combo, and in order to get the look I wanted the rear wheels had to be sent out and widened because they are only available up to 10" wide. I'm into them alot (for me) and only need the front two wheels since I have every thing else thanks to Fesler for selling me a set of mock up KDW tires.

It looks like they're also available here -
http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/32431/vpid/4783956/vpcsid/0/rid/126374

I realize that's not what you asked, but it might be worth a call to see if they've got them in stock.

Thanks any help is appreciated. Most of these places show the pics but when I say back space they reply have to oder in. I would have to find one that has the right back space on hand. And then due to my job situation.....:machine:

Boyd's (and Coddingon wheel before it) have already had awful customer service.

Boyd as a jerk and it ran down thru the rest of the company

I've had his wheels on a few of my cars through the years. I was thinking of ordering another set a few weeks back for a new project so I gave a call down there. The maze of people I had to talk to and the service I got was pretty scary. It was always lame, but this time I just got grumpy, one word answers to my questions. I wouldn't feel real comfortable dropping any cash there. Sucks because they have a style I need that nobody else has.

My wheel guy called back today and said he talked with a lady there and she said the wheel parts had been outsourced. That they have been received back and are welded together. And the two things she said that worried him are that the had to ship them out to be drilled? And they are waiting on paint to Match? That scares me since the real ones from boyd coddington are a sandblasted not painted dry aluminum no finish. He also said that the company was sold as stated above but he says he was told it was bought by weld wheels or something like that. Maybe it the owner of American Racing wheels.

I just know now I'm affraid my wheels won't match.

Now, I'll Step up the search now for a pair of true ones.

Munster,
If you can find a matching set in the diameter you want buy them and I can rehoop them any width and backspace you need.

I know Boyd Jr has been doing his line of wheels with Weld for long time called BC Forged but he has been doing that for 6-7 years plus.
I had no clue Chris was no longer with AR, I knew Gregg had been out of it for some time that sucks....

Depending on size of new hoop you are usually looking at about $200 or so.

Per, or for a set of 4? And actually I wouldn't be going wider, just defferent bs.

If the wheels have to be shipped to be drilled and painted,I would request the wheels as is and get the drilling and painted done yourself, at least you have control.

Its been nearly another three weeks on this problem. Anyone with info or contact information for Boyd Coddington wheels or whom ever bought them out it would be appreciated if I could get that info. I'd like to get a hold of them. (literally, get a hold of them around the freakin neck)

If the were stand up like the sponsers on this site they might be persuaded to chime in but I know that wont happen.

I ordered a set of the "FURY" in 17x8 and in 18x12 a few years back. It took 4 weeks to get the 17's and 12 weeks to get the 18's. This was before Boyd's passing though. I am thinking about selling them, they have tires mounted on them and are on the car but zero miles.

American Racing bought Weld over a year ago and also Boyd Coddington. Then about 6 months ago Wheel Pros bought all of them. They now own A/R, Weld, Boyd Coddington, KMC, Alba and a few others. I have worked with theese company's for over 15 years and I know the troubles you are having and I can say that its not who you are buying from but their supplier. They have felt the same crunch in the economy that most of us are feeling so they are short staffed and trying to survive. I had a set of wheels ordered that needed drilled and it took almost 4 weeks and we were told it would take only a couple days. I know this doesnt help much and it sucks but if its not right Wheel Pros should stand behind it. All of American Racings custom wheel orders are now being built in weld's plant (better Equipment than American Racing had) but it is slow going. Also when you order from Wheel Pros they bill the vendor when the product is ordered even if its not available at that time, this is a real pain for the vendor.

6 months of waiting, lots of worry, but they arrived. I will take the advise of others and by wheels from our site sponsers if there is a next time.

Loving the setup! Then again i'm partial because I have the same wheels on order :)

I know you mentioned your fronts are 8" wide. Can I ask your wheels size for the rear and also your tire sizes?

Awesome setup!
