Great project...and Welcome!!
With the AME subframe, why go with a 245 tire...not a 265 or 275 on a wider wheel?

I would guess that the motor and the car are not nunbers matching..
Either way that has got to be a major big dollar motor right there if it is what he says it is..

Anyone know how many of them were made??

They made 69 ZL-1 Camaros in 1969... I don't think he is saying the car is a "numbers matching" car... He is just stating that the engine is a 1969 vintage engine. Chevrolet did sell these engines as "crate engines" back then. I have seen a couple of cars with these motors in them. One was a road racing 1963 Split-window Corvette and the other was a 1969 Baldwin-Motion Camaro.

Thanks for the welcome. Went with the 245's to sit the car down plus this may gain a better lower the center of gravity also no tire rubbing. The ZL1 came out of Bakersfield Ca. from Doug Herberts engine builder.. No not a matching # car.. we would be crazy to do this to a COPO Camaro.. There was 71 ZL1's built 69 of them went into COPO Camaro's and 2 into 69 Vette. Only 13 COPO 's were sold so the GM Factory bought the remaining cars back. They removed the engines and were sold as a crate engine, Drag racer's, Trans Am Etc.. The car is a X11 RS 350-4speed

Actually there were three Corvettes with the ZL1, one didn't get very far.

I'll check my facts Thurs. but if I recall, one was actually crushed before it went far from the factory. One was purchased by a Utah drag racer that was tired of losing to Mopars, and the third was used back east. The Utah car is in a Las Vegas collectors collection.

The other is in Orlando last I checked. Purchased in a Government auction by Roger Judski (of Rogers Corvettes) after being confiscated some 20 years or so ago in a HUGE drug bust.

OK, Jack Cheskaty, purchased the white one from a dealership in Magna, Utah to race in the NHRA A/Sports class. That is the one in Otis Chandler's collection.
The ZL-1 was produced for NHRA drag racing and was never intended for street use.
One was a Chevy development car and was destroyed by the manufacturer, the one that didn't get far.
This is my ZL-1 Camaro.
