Currently stumped...Has anyone tried to fit a vette rear in a G1 camaro? I have DSE mini tubs installed already and trying to come up with the correct wheel widths / back spacing...I know I'm doing it the hard way. I guess the biggest issue is the track width of the corvette rear which is 61.5 inches rotor to rotor. I believe DSE recommends 55 inches axle to axle with a 6.75 inch backspaced wheel...Is the easy answer to narrow the vette rear set up to 55 inches or to go another route all together...I think this setup will work well and wanted something different from the standard 9" with 4 link....Any help or photos of someone that has already done this would be great appreciated

We are doing a C4 rear now right now. We narrowed it to 55 1/2" and are running a 6.2 backspace

Frank thanks a ton... that is the route I was thinking, So you cut down the shafts and shortened what I would call the "I" links going to the nuckles and what about the composite rear spring?

Oh man... I'm right in the middle of doing this very thing. It's a nightmare!!!
I was able to get ahold of a kit made by Wayne Due for putting C4 IRS's in first gen. Camaros. The problem I'm having is the width of the C4 (it will require a serious backspace on the wheels or shortening of the half-shafts and associated camber and toe-in supports) and the ride height. The Wayne Due brackets leave you with half shaft angles of about +4/5 deg (sloped up). I believe you want between 0 and -2 deg otherwise it would look funny as well as not be an optimal set-up. In order to do that you'd need to mount the batwing almost to the frame rails.
Questions for Frank:
Why 55 1/2" and where is the measurement taken (outside to outside of hubs, etc)? I want to use the factory dogbones and narrowing too much will interfere with the frame rail.
What tire width are you running? I'd like to run 245-275/18's
Cheers!
