Well its that time of year again and the show is next Sunday the 11th to Sunday the 18th. Anyone going to see how the auction goes? We will have a booth out there so stop by and say hi. We are right in the middle open tents outside by Cooper Town.

It will be very interesting to see what cars pull this year.

I'll be around town all week long and willing to meet up with anyone that will be in town. Not sure if I'm going to make it out to the auction though given the current BJ ticket prices...

What is the current scalping price, per person, for the week end, per day? (If I remember, week day and week end are different prices)

is this still a no reserve auction? If it is people are insane to put their cars in it right now.

Not if they want to sell.

Not if they want to sell.

BJ is a no Reserve auction and will remain that way, if you sell a car and it dosent meet the reserve you want your buddy will have to buy it back for you and you will pay 18% sell and buy fee on the car and to BJ it looks as though it sold. That is why he does it and many guys buy there cars back. Sucks for all of us because the numbers are not real but looks real good for BJ becasue all cars sell. Its a smart move for him but he is screwing everything up for the real guys that want to sell cars.

No luck as of yet. I've changed my plan of approach (more networking effort and focus in financial services, less applying to corporate finance jobs) so hopefully something will start to happen soon.

oh crap - can you imagine a 200K car that the guy needs 250 out of - he just cut a check for 36K to keep from losing 50

OUCH!

thats an expensive trip across the auction platform.

and when those guys take the time to do the math they quite often let the car go.

That's what I'm thinking.

So they pay buyer and seller fee, transportation to and from, event cost, etc. On top of that, they now still own a car that's not worth as much as they think it is.

To anybody that goes and gets up on the stage: If you see an idiot on a cell phone doing the "do you see me, cuz I'm on TV" to their friends back home, hit them, hard, right in the side of their head.

so why go in the first place? this is a bad time to sell - in fact or horrible time to sell - unless you must have the cash - this is a time to be buying in fact. Many of the cars I have seen go at auction you could not even buy all the part for the price they went for - much less all the labor to put them together.

The risk you take to sell a car at good money, some of them do pull good money. If you get a good time and the right people you can make some good money on a car.

Not all of us on the block are on our phones trying to get on TV, some of us are just trying to buy some cars:)

I think the TV stuff is crazy and that is the only reason he gets so big because all the people get off on that. Personally if I am bidding on a car we tell the camera guys to split.
