I have a stock g-body lower contol arm with afx spindle, and I am thinking about ways to build a steering stop. I would probably have it hit the lower caliper bracket bolt. I can't find any other place to brace against.

Does anybody have pics of their setups? any steering stop, doesn't have to be specific arm or car.

I would go for a steering box with internal stops but i need about 50-55 degrees of pitman travel, and gm boxstops only go to 43 degrees, or way over 55 degrees (basically no usable stop)

having a stop against anything brake related sounds scary... even if it is just a bracket bolt...

how far up is the steer arm on the spindle from the lca?

pics aren't at ride height because the engine is off of the frame

steering arm is too high to stop against spindle:

the bolt I am talking about:

bolt when turned away from arm, you can see the old steering stop where I would have to add a block of material to to hit the bolt:

have you talked to tom lee about an internal box stop? he builds them custom for the nascar guys, so he told me it was only a few shims that needed to be changed. he wanted $50 plus shipping. thats a couple hours of my time, and it would be done properly.

how hard would it be to make a steer stop that bolt on the inside of the steer arm using those same bolts?
looks like you only need a small 'overhang' stop from there to 'cover' that caliper bracket bolt.
