Hello to everyone and also a Happy New Year
Thought i would start off here giving every body a little chuckle
I would like to introduce everyone to a new genre, its called Ultralite Pro Touring
Are you ready here we go. So when everybody stops laughing and picks themselves up off the floor. I'll carry on
Some details on this little monster, It weighs 1180lbs with a full tank of gas .Its powered by a later model watercooled VW 4cyl engine its stroked to 2088cc, it has 44idf weber carbs ,msd ign, a boat load of cyl head work, adjustable cam gear ,tri mil exhaust. This engine dyno,ed at 207 hp on mini performance's dyno in Toledo Ohio
It runs 12teens until the sun burns out and has been mid 11s on the bottle
Car is on 17 KMC wheels 17x8s 17x9s it has 4 wheel discs adjustable for bias from the drivers seat The suspension is fully adjustable with one allen key and a17mm wrench it has cnc pedals and dual master cylinders.trans is a european vw 5 speed out of a vw camper van with a transform slick shift kit
It has an on board data system. I have owned this car for close to 20 years .People have always told me you can't make a dune buggy handle ,that's always been enough incentive to prove them wrong
I attend the odd slalom event now and again everybody usually starts off laughing when i show up, most of the time they are usually frowning and scratching their heads when I leave, and I usually notice that WTF? expression on their faces also accompanied by large amounts of head shaking
At the last event there was one owner of a highly modified C5 vette that's still pretty miffed at me
Now I do own a pristine 71 351 4speed mustang which is going thru it's pro touring rebuild right now ,6speed,griggs and tci suspension, and a vortech when all done .So until the stang is done this thing keeps a smile on my face.
in closing you know what they say, different strokes for different folks, this little gokart sees about 6000 kilometers a year.My wife and I often travel into michigan ,ohio and new york state with it. lts lite, its quick, its nimble, and it doesn't kill me at the gas pumps.
Oh yeah, as far as top speed is concerned, its only limited by how much abuse the skin on your face can stand mine has withstood 121mph according to my gps I will admit she is a little aero challenged
Everybody have a good laugh ,and please enjoy your cars and the coming new year
regards 2088bob
