Landrum Leaf Springs

Anybody using them on a 1st gen Camaro? If so, what part# and how did it affect ride height? I'm leaning toward 225# 5" arch with sliders. I've called Landrum and Capitol MS and neither place could give me any info. I want to lower the car 2"-3". The front has 600# Hypercoils w/ Afco height adjusters, G mod w/mounts moved back .5" for caster improvement.

Give them a call and let Landrum set you up, period. They know their own products.

I called Landrum and spoke with Jeff. He couldn't tell me how they would alter ride height.

no one will be able to give you the ride hight without a lot of info about your car and what you have to start with and what you refer to when you mention 2-3" lower, and most companies that make "lowering spring end up missing the mark

Right now the car has stock 4 leaf springs. Interior is going to be sparse with a 12pt cage, aluminum seats, stock door panels and glass. I plan to take it to Maxton at some point and possibly autocross it once in a while.
As far as the ride height question, knowing the difference it made in ride height in other applications would be helpful, but I realize it wouldn't be an exact number for mine.

The Landrum circle track springs you see in the catalogs have too much arch, - around 6"! They'd have to make a custom set for you.

That's what I was afraid of. The stock springs I took out have 6 3/8" arch. Landrum makes a 5", but at the increased rate I was figuring it may end up the same height.

I've seen some on vintage race cars, but they had 2" or more of lowering blocks on them.
Landrum did do rear springs for one of Mark Steilow's Camaros, I think it was the "Thrasher".

Thrasher has Landrum springs but I don't have the old articles to tell you which ones. Somebody on the site will though. And the car worked great...

I've got 175 lb . Landrums on the rear of my car.
The springs lowered it about 2".
I don't know the part no. though.

this is pretty damm close to what we have on our project car, the only difference is we have a higher rated front spring from Hypercoil.

Our plan requires us to use as little money as the school allows. Afco adjusters, Landrums rear springs and sliders, will be money well spent. You could go with the Gw -L2s, but you still may not like the height.

Our plan is to not worry about the rear height until the entire car is complete, loaded with fuel, pinion angle adjusted and ready to drive. Then for a 180.00 dollars, our local spring shop will de-arch the Landrums to where we want the car to ride. This way we are not using blocks and the car is right where we want it.

Before making the GW-L2s, I would also try speaking to Chicanne on this site, and maybe Carl from scanc. Nothing wrong with GW, but we have found the more research we do, the less money we have spent....also thanks Pozzi for all your great advise.

Thanks for the replies. I've been working on this car off and on for 10yrs. Other projects and priorities kept getting in the way. Plans have changed a few times, I've installed and removed a roll cage, bought 2 different seats and changed my mind on wheels a dozen times. I guess that's the result of a small budget and a short attention span. I guess where I'm leading is I only want to buy one set of springs and not break the bank doing it. From the reading I've done here, at Lateral G, Camaros.net, David's homepage and elsewhere I think I want a 225# rear spring and I may go up a little on the fronts.

Figure 700 lbs weight on each leaf. A 225 lb spring will deflect 3.1" what ride height will that give you?
Don't forget a leaf spring get's longer the more it's compressed or de-arched, lowering springs are usually a bit shorter than stock.

Springs like the Hotchkis or Global West are almost flat when installed. Maybe 1" from flat.

Here is a Hotchkis leaf with 700 lbs load on it, the red string runs from eye to eye.
The number on the spring eye is used by the supplier to match up pairs of leaf springs so the car will sit level.

At 1" from flat I should drop close to 2".
