I'm thinking of installing Sirius radio in my 75 camaro (I already have in my daily driver). One concern I have is power to the unit; I do not want to plug the power cord into the cigarette lighter.
Is anyone aware of an alternative way to get power to a Sirius unit? What is the best to hard wire the power cord?

yeah just as you can hard wire a radar detector..its just a 12v power .cut the cig lighter part of the end and wire it into a keyed ign source.i am running mine in my truck with the lighter but am gonna redo it later..to a keyed power..

check the plug input on the back of the unit first to see what voltage it takes. When I used to work at a circuit city there were one or two units that used 6 volt power, but that was a while ago and if they're smart they've changed their ways

I agree that running it from the cig lighther works.
The only downfall is its always on. So remember to turn of the device when you shut off the car cause if you dont it will stay on

DO NOT!! just cut the wires and wire it to power. Most Sirius units are a 5v unit(s). That is the reason the Cig adapter is so big. It is a power converter. They sell hardwiring kits for just this. Best buy or Circuit City sell them.

Thanks for all of the input, I'll go to Best Buy this weekend to see what is available
