Just what GM needs...
http://www.autoweek.com/article/20081229/FREE/812299991
"After months of teasing us with pictures, concepts and finally the real thing, all that’s left for the new Chevrolet Camaro is to crank up the assembly line so the car can hit the road next year.
But there may be a little glitch.
GM is suing Cadence Innovation, a bankrupt interior parts supplier that is liquidating, to get back parts and equipment it needs for the Camaro.
In standard industry practice, GM handed over the parts and machines to Cadence to make the Camaro parts.
But even though Cadence is going out of business, it hasn’t been in a hurry to return the equipment, as some company managers have tried to engineer a buyout to keep the firm going.
GM says that if it doesn’t get the production equipment back by Jan. 12, the start of Camaro production will be delayed.
And that won't be good news to the Camaro faithful--especially those who have a car on order."

Man, GM cannot catch a break!
Good grief!
Should any of you all have opinions on this, feel free to share them with the folks at Cadence Innovation.
(Be nice to the receptionist, it's not her fault. Ask to speak to CEO Jerry Mosingo.)

if i were gm i would be sending as many 18 wheelers and movers as needed to remove the equipment on my own. they do not need a delay.

How is this going to help anything? Cadence is not somehow holding the parts hostage, the article clearly states that the brains behind the company are trying to keep the company going so it can make the parts. Calling and complaining and puffing your chest out because you like the car does nothing but make you look like an a$$. If you want to actually do something positive, why not contact the company and find out if you can possibly invest in the company so the engineers can make the parts for the car you're so in love with.

I have friends that worked at Cadence Chesterfield plant where the Instrument Panel and center console were made. GM may blame the delay, if there is one, on Cadence but the program was having issues prior to movement of the tools. Engineered at Holden Australia, handed off the GMNA, then built in Canada. This truly is a global car. However, the handoff the GMNA from Holden was less than ideal. There were many late engineering changes that GMNA thought Holden should pay for, Holden thought GMNA or Cadence should pay for them, and in the end, after weeks of discussing who would pay for them, a band aid would be put in place. Secondly, GM added enormous cost to the program, moving the instrument panel tools to Iowa City, IA and the center console to Strasberg, VA. These facilities are 2-3 times as far away from the Oshawa build plant as the Cadence Chesterfield facility. I wonder how GM will explain that to the Government at the end of Feb?
After talking the GM and Cadence people, some ego's at both places caused this to happen. The delay will occur but only because GM moved the tools. They didn't have to as Cadence found a buyer one day after the deal with Faurecia fell thru. GM would not take the new buyer's phone calls and decided to move the tools anyway. There really was no reason for it to happen.

Hey...I know where that is. Should I walk over and knock on the door? :)
