I would like to tuck my new 275/40/17's in, just slightly more, for perfect fitment.. How much space gain I gain going from standard rear drums on a GM 12-bolt to a Baer rear disk setup??? Thanks...

Swapping to disks usually will add to the track width not decrease it.

The drum or hat (disc) both usually sit against the axle flange, so besides the actual material thickness, there should be no change unless you narrow your rear or change wheel offset.

You will gain 1/16" of track width

Yep, I found that out when I did a rear disc conversion on my Cherokee. The hat on the rotor was thicker than the face of the OE brake drum. I even needed to install longer wheel studs to compensate for the wider track.
