I am putting a 454 in my 67 and it was set up for an automatic. The crank flexplate and dampner were all balanced when the machine work was done. Do I need an externally balanced flywheel or internally balanced balanced flywheel. Thanks.

what manual trans do you plan on using? oh and you will need a ext balance flywheel. it will have to be match balanced to what you got.

It depends on the year of the block. Gen V and VI are internally balanced, while other gen BBC's are external balance.

I am using an m22. The block is a later model with a two piece rear main seal.

All two piece rear main seal 454s use an externally balanced flywheel. I have the same block in my Nova and just recently installed a Centerforce flywheel/pressure plate/clutch when I installed my TKO.
