How to make V6 sound good (or at least quiet)?

Hi guys,

I am building a lightweight car that uses the factory supercharged GM 3.8L V6. Unfortionatly these engines have a very buzzy exhaust note when at higher rpm which I hate. The loudness is not an issue, it's the buzzy sound.

I only have an area of about 40"W x 16"L x 5"H to fit whatever muffler(s) I go for so room is limited. 2.5" pipe is recommended by the 3.8L crowd, but I bet I can get away with 2" if it will help shut it up.

The only options I can think of are the 2 doodles I've attached. Don't mind the horrible drawings, just the quickest way to show what I mean.

So, I'd like some input as to the best mufflers to get rid of the buzzy sound. I can also fit resonators further up if that will reduce it. Ideal for me is exhaust quiet enough I can hear the blower screaming. Slight loss of power is really not an issue. 300bhp with an 1800lb car is enough for now.

Thats with a cat, and "loudmouth" mufflers which are just a glasspack.

LOL!! Just kidding! Try to use resonators before the mufflers. Use straight through type mufflers, magnaflow, dynomax, borla. I would install a high flow cat, a 12" resonator a 16" resonator and a magnaflow muffler per bank. Stay away from chambered mufflers, they will most likely accentuate the noise you don't like.
