This is my 98 1/2 ton Ive been cutting up since last Dec.Not really a Pro Tourer but its going to be a unique streetrod pickup. I noticed there arent many trucks on the site.Guess a truck isnt the best platform for P/Ting. This is my work so far

Probably a little too optomistic. I can maybe get away w/it on a straight away. Its going to only be a Sunday driver so we'll have to see. Im gonna set up a preset in the air mngmnt for this height or there about so I can just hit the preset when I get lined up on a smooth straight stretch. Thats the plan anyway.

Glad you're still around Troy. The truck is coming together nicely. Do you have access to a lazer cutter? I'm just curious to know how you're doing all the holes in everything. They are very clean edged.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Marty: I think you will dig the dash. Its going to kinda look like a 60's era aircraft dashboard.
Trey: Im still around man, havent been on here in a while.I do everything by hand.I use a drill press and then I use a step bit to clean up the holes on both sides and then use a 3M pad for a final cleaning. It takes me 3 times as long to do intricate work but I have to make due. (:0

I didnt know, for some time, how the dash was going to turn out but now know its going to look great. It will really take shape w/the 1/8" aluminum face panels & s/s fasteners. Keep in mind ,its going to be very utility like and simple. Its intended to show the plumbing/wiring and such and have a stylish utility theme.

Tig: Its a KP Komponents cantilevered 6-link,which is a parallel 4 w/a matching cantilever attachment. Ive heard great things about the ride quality. It gets tremendous lift but it hasnt seen any road use yet. Check KPKomponents to see the kit. I plan on strap limiting the rear lift travel and using a sway bar.

i am not rying to hijack inverters thread :) but the blazer is getting a street freindly 454 with alum heads and roller cam, already have it on the stand, it was a 4 wheel drive i got the truck for 1000.00 with a blown motor, pulled the motor and took the front section of a 2 wheel drive and fabbed the frame in, pulled the 4 wheel rear out and stuck a ford 9 inch with disc brakes from a mark4 lincoln since it had the same bolt pattern on the wheels, i think it will be hugger orange with black ss stripes on the hood, still not for sure yet, i am trying to do this as cheap as possible and make it look like a million bucks , i am going to start a thread soon on here for this when i get some more time to work on it maybe in about a month or so when i get caught up , i am also fabbing in a 4th gen camaro rack and pinion , yep these babies are very tough to find in many areas, there are a bunch around here, but i didnt want a nice one for 4-5000.00 to take apart and build , so i bought one for 1k

Ahh gatcha, just saw the rear links didnt notice them when I first looked. I'm lookin to do a coil-over set up. I've heard nothing but good things about KP. Not sure if it would fit my ride, I think Hoes have different hangers or bolt patterns. Something like that, not sure exactly. I might just order some Eaton lowering leafs with a stiffer rate along with some big sway bars and some tractions bars.

This is a really nice build. Quality is top notch. I think 1/2 ton trucks make some of the best hot rods and are the most overlooked for an awesome project. My next project may be a mid '90s F150 standard cab short bed with a powerstroke.

Hell, you cant do that, thats my next project. Maybe a gen 1 Lightning woth a stroke. Ive had so much fun with my 1 ton crew cab, that I want to build a half ton pro-touring style Light with diesel power.

Hey Marty,
Congratz on the truck. I looked in on it,turned out Amazing.
Also, thanks for the good word. The grommet is the original oem.It had a small openning for the DD shaft.I cleaned it up and enlarged the hole for the 2" column. I thought it fit so well,,why mess w/it?

Thanks yall,
The truck isnt going to be black. Its just the previous semi flat color it was the 1st time around, front sheetmetal is all new,,edp I think they call it. Ive changed my mind a few times on the color but I think Ive settled on Daytona Blue Pearl Satin and Satin Black wheel centers,(center caps and lips will stay polished).
So anyway Im fitting the front and getting the cooling system layed out. I think before the end of this year I'll have it in the shop for paint prep...Lots of blocking to be done. I want these body lines arrow straight.

Interesting. It almost looks like the bottom of a stock bumper cut off and flipped upside down. If you ever damage the fiberglass one you could just build one off of a factory bumper. :dunno:

I just want to say thanks to everyone and especially To the pro touring purest. I don't in any way compare my build to a pro touring machine. It's merely a parade vehicle compared to a precision built PT machine and I don't mean to invade this performance oriented site to claim any resemblence but rather offer a unique distraction.
Thanks for your respectful tolerance.

Jeff: thanks, its hard to be diff. ,these days, and look good doin it.
Trey: It'll be a while but I can do it. I gotta figure out what gears I want to bust loose the 31" ers.
Tig: Thanks,I dont see why you couldnt use a couple of u-joints and a longer DD. Its alot tighter of a feel than the oem plastic coupler.
I'd like to give it a try, not sure if it would mess with my airbag though. You know anything about that?
I contacted Borgeson about there shafts and they said they didnt get involved with my year (and other model years) because of the airbags.
Inverter
03-13-2010, 08:22 PM
I'm not one for trying to keep the oem safety features but the original shaft can be cut and fit w/a u-joint and another piece of DD shaft. Then just one more splined end u-joint at the box. Your airbag shouldn't be affected and should still respond in a collision.

Trucks like this push me to really think about building a 67-72 C10 and put it really low. Not sure if I want it bagged or not but the goal would be a very low ride height regardless.

I'll be glad when the glass is installed n mouldings are on,then its comming home.I have a trick set of shortened tube arms(to tuck-in the front wheels more)that I will mock up for a splined end sway bar,,if I can get it out of the shop. After that its all wires and lots of little stuff...
