What do you guys think? These are off of a 2002 BMW M5 E39. (I know, I know..."It needs dropped, and the rear tires dont have enough sidewall.") :)

Front: 18x8, 20 offset, 245/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sports
Rear: 18x9.5, 22 offset, 275/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sports

I see a lot of posts where people ask "How will ____ offset fit my car?" Well this is how close a 9.5 rear wheel with a 22mm offset (approx. 6" backspacing ) is to the wheel well.

As you can tell, a spacer is definetly needed.

The fronts seem to fit great without a spacer, but it seems I'll need a small one to fit the C6 Z51 Calipers/Brakes.

Also, if you are looking at BMW Wheels, the E39's have a larger center bore than most BMW's at 74.1mm, and fit over the 1st Gen hubs. These do need a hub centering ring, but won't need to be bored out like some other BMW wheels.

Hope this can help someone! :)

Tough to tell with the indoor flash shot. But IMO there is too much silver in your paint for the wheel. Maybe with an outdoor shot the colors would render better but in that photo I don't dig them. Not enough contrast in color/tone between the car and wheel.

Nice looking wheel though.

I agree; my old TT-2's polish matched the tone of the paint much better, and these are too dark.

My plan is to have these plastic media blasted, then just run them as polished aluminum.

Thanks for all the compliments!

Hello, I know this is an older thread..but I am interested in putting m5 wheels on a 2nd gen camaro. It appears there are pics on this thread but can't see them. Hope you still have some pics!

Thank you,

Here you go!

Please excuse the horrible, non-lowered stance. Now its got Hotchkis springs, and looks much, much better.

You'll definitely need spacers at least in the rear with these wheels on a 1st Gen - maybe the front too. I just had these wheels on essentially for these pics and sold them...lol. I never acutally drove it with them on.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you guys have any other questions!

Cliff,

Thank you for digging up the pics! I just got my hub centric spacers in yesterday and will try to get them on soon. It's my daughters car, was able to get the M5 wheels for a great deal so now there going on, hahaha! They looked pretty nice on your car, what wheels did you end up going with on your car?

No problem Marcell! Glad I could help. I ended up just keeping my 16-inch Torq Thrusts that I already had. They didn't really look all that bad once I got the car lowered. :-)

might want to paint the centercaps blue or something though..

No, do NOT put metric wheels on a standard car. They look they they bolt up but the size is actually not correct ad the metric bolt pattern will put extreme stress on your wheel lugs and this may cause them to break. I would highly recommend to NOT use BMW wheels on your camaro people.

i have some Buddys who used BMW bolt pattern aftermarket wheels on Budget and it worked well without parts failure. i thought about getting some BBS but like Pete said it puts stress on the lugs itīs probably no matter as long as you just cruise around town but for me on a hard driven performance car it was no option so i bit the bullet and ordered forgelines. donīt wanna sound offensive but i donīt get the idea on using BMW wheels living in a Country where i could get tons of wheels that fit straight up the car. i paid that Money alone on shippping&custom taxes what the BBS wheels would have costed me right next door at a shop in Germany not counting the forgelines :(

BMW wheel 5 x 120 mm (millimeters) = bolt circle of 4.7244

Chevy wheels 5 x 4 3/4 (inches) = bolt circle of 4.7500

4.7244 - 4.7500 = .0255 ( difference in dia total)

.0255/ 2 = .0127 (single side difference)

In the 1960's standard tolerance of a drilled bolt circle was probably +/ - .010 (maybe more)

Whoa - didn't mean to stir this debate back up.

Like I said, I sold the wheels to a BMW owner right after I took the pics and never actually used them. Several folks asked to see the pics, so I was just trying to be helpful.

Wow. Thanks.

Do not use 120mm wheels on 4.75" center. 4.5" is okay with 114,3mm Nissan, Honda etc. use this. It is exactly same.

Im telling you guys, Ive worked at a major wheel company and have talked about this issue with ACTUAL WHEEL ENGINEERS, I know thats crazy! It seems like an insignificant difference but it will put unsafe pressure on the wheel studs. Run it at your own risk, Im sure you know whats best for your car.
