I would like to install a set of late model, flush style door handles on my skylark vs. the stock chrome ones. I know this will require some cutting & welding and fabrication to the locking mechanisms in the door. Anyone have any experience doing this or have pics of this they could provide? I've attached a pic of the handle on my accord to help give an ide of the style/type of look I'm going for but it obviously doesn't have to be that specific one. Anything similar that may work best.

They used Jaguar handles on the Foose Camaros. The handle install itself is pretty simple the linkage is the trouble. Find the handles you want and cut out a section of the donor skin. Go 2-3 inches past the handle in all directions this give you extra to work with. Determine the placement in your door. Do your final trim on your donor piece prior to placing it.Trim out a hole gig enough for the recessed area only and fit your donor piece in place use some tape to hold in place while you make any adjustments needed to get the look you want. Scribe your final cut line remove and trim pieces to fit flush. Weld it up and finish it up.

Mine are off late model GM cars (ie 2001 to 2004 model - in Australia but I know they are same on Impala's in the US).
As last poster said it's the linkage that is hard, late model push down, Gen 1's pull up (if you follow my thought process), so working the mechanism is the hard part....

That looks sharp as hell! What did you have to do to get them to work with the stock locking mechanisms?

These are off of a Grand Prix, but can be had off of Impala, malibu or vette (well just the handles). To get the lock and handle to work just graf the two linkages together.

These are on opposite doors switched and upside down to try to get the inside mech.to move to the correct way ie: up/ down
I got the out side to work but the inside handles are still giving me trouble...any thought or pics of the inside mechanics..please.

i created this same thread on another site and here is some things i got this handle is from a miataI've thought about using that same type on my '67 but not having seen the workings of one I'm hesitant about buying the ones I see on eBay. Did you use surrounding sheetmetal from the original door or just re-shape the hole in the door? Does the mechanism pull up or push down on the rod?
edit - Being symmetrical on the horizontal plane I guess you could swap left/right to circumvent the push/pull issue.

Haven't been able to find jack really on ebay for handles with the sorrounding sheet metal...probably start to check out local salvage yards after the new year...

The guy even posted pictures of the back side and I could see how they would(n't) work on my car. I took the pics into photoshop to see what they would look like upside-down.
Maybe modifying the latch to push instead of pull would be easier? Anyone here done that before?

its not that hard to figure the linkages out. most of the time just turn the handle upside down and the problem is solved.

Another thing to consider is the key lock switch, on my 06 Daytona there is only one key hole on the drivers door. I know that thieves just pry the handle out and access the lock rod to get into these cars so I ordered a new handle for the rear drivers door and replaced the keyed handle in the front door with it. No more lock access for a thief to use. Since the Daytona has the battery in the trunk (if it ever went dead) I was covered. I also keep a spare battery for the fob in the trunk in case it went dead and worst case scenario was the fold down rear seat access to the passenger compartment. So if you wanted to clean it up even more use rear door handles from 4-door cars.
