Real quick.

Will a late model radiator and fans from a 1997-2002 Camaro/Firebird work in a first gen Camaro with an LS1? If so...what mods are necessary? Anyone have this in their car?

I'm guessing factory hoses could be used as well, eliminating the need to search ones that would fit.

Thanks.

That is what I used in my build..
What I had to do was cut four square holes in the radiator support for the hook mounts on the fan shroud. Then mount a piece of aluminum angle stock underneath the radiator to hold it up in position..

skeeter....so it CAN be done. Thank you. Also...do you have pics available so you can show me exactly what you're talking about?

Thanks.

I dont have any pics.
If you go to ls1tech.com and look in the conversion section under the stickies there is a thread where a guy took pics and documented it..

When you have the parts in front it all makes sense and is very easy..

Here's the same reply i posted on LS1tech.com.

Use an LT1 radiator and fans. A radiator from a 94-95 camaro had the biggest capacity. I had a lower valance to set my radiator on but i ended up making some 90 degree brackets (could buy shelf hangers and it'd be the same thing) and mounted my radiator at the bottom like that. On the top i just self tapped through aluminum radiator lip. The LT1 fans i just hung right on the radiator too. I can drive the 30 minutes to work without even turning my fans on and my engine temp never goes above 170 or so.

Here's a couple pics. It doesnt take much to hold them in place. I used the factory LS1 upper and lower radiator hoses. I had to trim about a half inch off of the lower radiator hose to make it fit but thats it.
