Hey all, new to the site but not new to cars. Currently attempting my first pro-touring project, a '70 Skylark convertible.

This is how the car looked when I brought it home. The original owner parked it in '78 when the head gasket blew at 77K miles. She later gave it to her son who did a frame off on it in the mid 80s before eventually losing interest and then sold it in the late 90s to a guy who was a big Buick nut. However, he later decided he didn't really have interest in a convertible and focused on his 69 GS leaving this to sit in his garage basically untouched until I bought in in October. Car hasn't been tagged since '78, has lived it's enitre life indoors and is 100% rust free with all original metal minus the drivers door which was evidently backed into at some point.

Picked up a 12 bolt out of a 70 GS w/ factory posi & 3.55's that I'll overhaul and put in place of the 10 bolt.

I freshened up the frame with some new paint and rebuilt the suspension with polyurethane bushings, eibach springs & kybs on all 4 corners.

I had a fresh 355 Chevy from a previous project sitting on the stand so I'm running that instead of the original 2 barrel Buick 350. It's a mild set up for now, around 325hp/375tq backed up by a fresh TH350 with a 2300 stall. I also have a new factory serpentine setup from a third gen f-body that I'll be running with a factory WS6 dual fan assembly.

Hey Andrew, yes I am. Jason emailed me your number...money has been a little tight lately & we recently had a baby though so the project hasn't been making much progress recently. I understand you have a sweet GS your building.

I was making some progress and pretty close to getting her fired up until I decided to go w/ a 6-speed conversion. Now engine & trans are back out. While engine is out I'm adding a noisy gear drive and 7qt. deep sump oil pan.
Here are some pics of what I had gotten done...

Finally started the process yesterday of installing the t56. I reinstalled the engine & trans (minus flywheel for now) and cut the trans tunnel. I have it sitting on the trans crossmember and the engine looks like it's positioned properly but I've been reading conflicting posts in various forums, some saying that I need to modify & lower the crossmember in addition to cutting the tunnel and others that say I don't. I'll need to get an angle finder to make sure the engine/trans are positioned correctly.
