Guys i got an idea.
Could I get a convan's dash and sand, prep and paint it with SEM (something that starts with L) paint. I dont like the finish of convan's. It looks cheesey IMO. will it work?

I have one for sale in the for sale section that you can give it a try on. I didn't want to go though all of the labor so I bought a silver one and will paint it.
I too do not like the pebble/patent leather look. Why they quit offering the smooth black ones I will never know? There website sucks and they don't return their emails about it either. They could make a smooth black glossy one but they just don't, and if they do they sure are keeping it a secret!
It's Christmas time and if you truly want to show us all how it will turn out I will absorb the shipping to you.

The Covan's pieces are a little flimsy. If I were to do it I would use a resin or epoxy over the surface and sand flush rather than sand down the surface more.
KWIKND, that looks really stealth. I love it!

Oh Oh, I didn't notice you needed it for a Chevelle.
Mines for a 67-8 Camaro.
I got excited when the problem you have sent a message to my brain about how it was the same problem I had. Same problem just not the same dash. Shucks.
I do have to say it again that it was a disappointment to me that they don't have a better website. They try hard and do good at what they do and The fit of the products seem to be good for what I have but that website:machine:
Sorry I don't have what you need :hammer:

My first el Camino had that green interior with the standard gauges. Yours looks much better.

I painted mine red after roughing it a bit with 220 grit.
Check the interior pics in my PT Garage...

That'a what I did.. I painted mine with SEM paint.
But, if you get the black is has a weird grain/texture. I wanted smooth so I got the fake CF one. The fake alum would work too.

Thanks for the kind comments, I am tempted to take the green off the outer ring of the gauges. It looks a little too dipped for me. I will make that call when everything is installed to see if the color is broken up at all.
He used Dupont Vinyl Coat on all the hard plastic interior parts.
I would agree the thermo-formed covan part is very flimsy but a little better when installed.

I had the same problem Steve and did basically the same thing!
They just sent me an email with a response last week that they found a black smooth one in old inventory and would sell it to me for $100.
