View Full Version : Another joining the unemployed ranks

Well, as of today I am the latest to find myself unemployed. The small firm I worked for here in Scottsdale cut about 40% of its workforce and I was not one of the lucky 60%. I guess now is the time to consider whether I want to continue to work as an analyst any longer, or if I should pursue opportunities in another field... If anyone knows of anything in the Phoenix area that could fit a former financial analyst with accounting and dealership management experience, feel free to let me know!!

Keeping my head up...Jeff K.

I just joined the unemployment club on the 24th. Worked for plumbing company 15 years. Started as an apprentice, now master plumber. Maybe should start an unemployment thread. Good luck to everyone.

I plug indeed a fair bit, but man, they do provide a lot of options.

Good Luck!

Damn. I am barely looking down a few job offers coming in after 5 months of looking and interviewing. I probably shouldn't say that, I might jinx the whole thing!

Keep your head up!

Alberta is in much better shape than Ontario. My nephew couldn't find squat for work here. Went to Alberta and is now working non stop. Last I heard he has worked close to a month without a day off. Good job he's a young 'un.
This year I've been laid off more than working. Being a well established old fart, that's just fine by me.

I don't know for certain. I can tell you that two weeks ago he was lined up for a weekend off but the company he works for was called in to clean up a spill. He mostly drives trucks and heavy equipment.

i work offshore in the gulf. here lately they have been letting people go left and right. this old guy i work with told me he hasnt seen people get laid off like that in the oilfield since the late 80s. when they layoff in the oilfield you can say that the economy is in a bind. and whats bad is that we are taking the rest of the world with us.

I might be in town either right before Christmas or during Barrett Jackson, wana grab lunch again, I'll buy. Maybe a Christmas ale will brighten your day.

Absolutely Mick, we should definitely do that. I'd love to hear more about your Chevelle. I've seen a few pics, but not much. Though that may be by design....:ssst:

The resume's started going out yesterday. I'd like to at least get a few interviews under my belt, get back in that rythm.

Guys, keep your heads up & stay positive, I was laid off the end of July and didn't land anything until the beginning of November...it may take a bit, but you'll find something.
