Hey everyone,
I am about ready to get my build going and have been debating on this for a while. I am probably going to use a kit from enginekits.com and a 4 bolt main block I've got sitting in my garage. The difference in price of the two kits is minimal but I am on a VERY tight budget so every penny really does count.

The engine will be going in my 1972 Chevelle. I am swapping the trans for a 700r4 and the rear is a 12 bolt with 3.73s. I plan on topping the engine with Summit's Trick Flow kit that makes a respectable 420hp and 395ft-lbs of torque on a 355 small block. The Trick Flow kit comes with everything needed to finish a short block minus the intake carb which I have. Unfortunately I havent found any info on what this kit would make on a 383, so the benefits are any body's guess. If you have info on this please let me know.

The car will be a daily driver and may occassionally see use in other competitive settings.

id go with the stroker motor! the cost differance is nominal and you do get more power because there are more cubes! on the street its really the way to go, i dont think youl regret it. you may have to do some small clearancing on the block but its a very easy procedure. is the block at a stock bore?

Yes, it is a complete 350 4 bolt main that has not been rebuilt previously.
