I installed my ls1 with LH8 pan into my 69 camaro a couple days ago and i've been having problems bolting the engine mounts down to the frame. i'm using the car shop plates and poly mounts. the passenger side mount would like up perfectly for the bolt to slide thru hole but the driver side wouldn't line up. I tried balancing the motor but never had any luck. i noticed that the LH8 oil pan was sitting on the subframe which wasn't allowing the motor any room to balance. seems like the only solution is to use the BRP engine mounts for the oil pan to work.
here's a couple pics

Did you try to flip the motor mounts?
someone else will need to verify this as I am not a first gen person but are you using the correct motor mount stands? There were two different styles one for small blocks and one for big blocks. Don't shoot me if I'm wrong but I know people have talked about this before. Double check that info as that may be your problem.

As far as I know, the mounts in the photo are small block mounts. Big block mounts are alot shorter...

Both big block and small block frame mounts come in short and tall. The big block will "shift" the engine away from the steering box. Looks like you have a mismatch between the frame stand and motor mount. I believe your pan is 2 3/8" in the front. With my set up
energy suspension mounts ens-3-1118g(summit)
frame mount E291(short small block)classic industries
with the backing plates behind the motor mounts I can fit the caddy cts-v pan. I believe it is 2 1/4" in the front.

Addition to above post. I think that pan hangs way too low. It is "I think" 8 1/2" deep inches in the back. My f body pan(5 1/4") is flush with crossmember, my cts pan hangs about 1" lower. Just my opinion.
Here is a pic of mine.

yup i did... it's the actual pan. the pan is about an inch too big and it sits on the subframe.

i have the small block motor mount stands so that isn't the problem at all.

Yeah the pan is about 2 3/8 in the front and it did hang below the crossmemeber in the back. i read on ls1tech that someone actually cracked their pan because it was too low. Your engergy suspension mounts are different than mine. I'll have to check that out. I actually already pulled the motor back out and pulled the pan off and sold the pan within 2 hours. I got a friend of mine bringing me a notched f body pan so i'll give that a try (most likely it'll work).

I think I am going to sell my LH8 pan setup as well. I'm building a '56 but it will be bagged and the LH8 just makes me nervous because of the lack of ground clearance I will have.
Does anyone else modify Fbody pans besides S&P?

I think you are supposed to use this pan in conjunction with motors mounts like BRP hotrods, this lifts up the motor to clear the a/c compressor at the frame.
I have some forsale since I went a different route.

I have the same frame stands they are correct stands. your plates are wrong for the pan thats all.

I dumped that pan and went with the autokraft pan. Fits perfectly. I used the trans dapt mounting plates.
