just wondering what any one thinks about this setup. does it sound too good to be true? i don't know much about EFI, currently running a carb on a dinosaur MKIV BBC. just wondering if i could get some input/thoughts on this setup. thanks for any input...

looks pretty good
i've seen another one here : http://www.retrotekspeed.com/products/powerjection-i/powerjection-i-systems/ this just mounts in place of the normal carbs
they allso have the treu efi systems
these are allso selflearning just need to inserd the engine size and that sortah stuff

It is basically an A9L EECIV out of an '89 to '93 Mustang with some modifications. They make their own throttle body and mass air sensor setup that fits onto a carb style intake and can use a carb style breather. I think they may be using a GM style Mass air meter (which uses a frequency signal) and converting the signal to a 0-5V for the Ford EECIV. You can see the converter box in their pictures.
I don't have any experience with them, but my first impression is that it's expensive for what it is. You give them your engine specs and they give the EEC a basic tune. It will learn, adaptively from there. It will learn, but it uses narrow-band A/F sensors to do so. I'd say for a street driven cruiser you'd be fine with their out of the box setup, but if I were trying to make peak power, I would take it somewhere and have it tuned.
I guess a good thing may be that anyone that can tune a Mustang should be able to tune this. I have an SCT chip on my '89 Mustang with and it has this exact same factory computer.
I'm not sure if this helps or not. Someone may chime in that has some real world experience with the system. I just thought I'd let you know what the components consisted of.

Without port injection you have typical carb wet flow issues through the manifold at low engine speeds and without tuning the EFI (including spark advance) to the specific engine you are compromising the power and drivability.

From what I could see, the link he posted shows nothing but port injection systems.

I think he's refer to the retrotek powerjection which is efi in a carb looking package.

Ah, I see it down there. Not a fan of it either.

is anybody using this or know of anyone who is? one of the things i liked about it was that i wouldn't have to change my cam. still wondering if i'd be better off with something like the ACCEL DFI over this, or would this do what i need:dunno:

I just purchased a system but it will be weeks/months, before I am ready to fire it up ( engine still being built ). I found two cars at car shows that had the same set-up and the owners were very happy with the kit and the way their cars performed. I was worried about the manifold height set-up but it clears my SS hood by 1/2 inch with solid motor mounts and a 4 inch tall air cleaner during my first mock-up (have to have an air cleaner housing that the MAF unit will fit inside). Everything in the kit is top notch components, the instructions are simple to follow, the craftmanship is excellent and the throttle body is a work of art. If it works as good as it looks, I'll be very happy. Sorry I couldn't be of more help at the moment.

megasquirt is the linux under injectionsystems , its verry adaptive kan be used in a variaty of aplications .
they use open code for programming so everyone can tune it to there liking and even post there adaptions making the system better and even more universal

do you one better theres a forum for it : http://www.msefi.com/index.php
and a place where you can buy the assembled kits (you usually have to assemble the boards youreself ) :
