I like the functionality of vent windows but I'm not sure about the looks. Is there a stigma for these cars like there is hardtop vs. post cars?

I like the vent windows. I think they play a great subtle role in retaining the classic look.

Had them on my 67 camaro, have them on my 64 riviera, I like 'em.

Being that I am the owner of a 67, I don't have a problem with them and I don't think that they look bad at all. Honestly, I never really think about it. Some don't like them though I don't know why.

I like vent windows. My Carrera has non functional "vent" windows. Whats up with that? Anyone ever install vent windows in a newer car that didn't come them?

Seriously...
I like the look and the function... as long as they are not being used on a racecar.

I love em except when they whistle. It is the the only thing I ever remember people complaining about them over. Some would be crankers and they would strip out and then they wouldn't close and they would leak and whistle.
When they eliminated them in most cars all of the smokers really complained that they were gone and it made people bitch and moan in the summer when you couldn't get the same air flow in most cars because the floor vents didn't work as well to blow fresh air on you.
More people went to AC to make up for the lack of vent windows.
On rainy days they get the fog off the windsheild without the blower going.
People put those vent shade things on these days to get the same effect. I like drip rails too for the same reason people put those vent shades on! I don't like vent shades because they are not as good or as cool as vent windows.
Ahhhhh yes I like them. Wish I was that young again too!

I never understood why people wanted to remove the vents from their 67s. I like the vents in my 65, I like the vents in my Elky.

Vent windows suck and so do cars w/o ac lol. I'd get rid of the vent windows on my 67 firebird if it were easier. I don't feel like modifying 68 doors to fit and no seems to know if 68 regulators can be used on a 67. With all the kits to eliminate them on old trucks i'm surprised there aren't kits for 60s era cars.

I was once hellbent on getting rid of my vent windows on my 67 after nearly poking my eye out getting in a few years ago (I'm 6'3) after realizing the effort need to make them go away, I decided just to be a little more careful getting in. Plus the bonus of always having change in the car is always nice $.50 in the driver and a whopping $1.25 in the passenger to keep the wind noise down.

Oh the memories you bring back with those comments. Toll money and the damn pain to prove that vent windos bring fond memories like a picture of a high school sweetheart.:lmao:

Vent windows rule!

Personally I dislike vent windows. While they are functionally nicer, they muddy up the lines of the car most of the time and I have yet to own a car whose vent windows did not leak air/water/anguish:machine:. That is why my ride consist of a ventless 69 chevelle coupe and a 69 nova that will soon be getting 73 doors.

Being the owner of both a 67 and a 68 camaro I see both sides of this. I've actually never used the vent windows while driving, in fact, I never realized what they were really for (other than smoking). I'll have to try them on the freeway to see what they do. My 67 does have Vintage Air, so I don't really need the vent windows.
If I had to choose one or the other, I think I like the 68's windows better. The vents on the 67 kind of get in the way when getting into the car, and they definitely block my view when tearing up the twisties. They also seem to get in the way of my comfy window-sill armrest that I always loved using in my 68. But with that being said, I'd never remove the vents from my 67. It's just part of the car's character.

I don't think the vent window on the '67 does anything to take away from the lines of the car.

keep them, it makes your car unique, and it lets everyone know that you have the very FIRST year Camaro ever built with just a quick glance!

I like my vent windows, but they do take away some line of site at the track on the left hand turns that I find distracting.

I'm building my '57 without vent windows. For me the look will be worth the effort. And I don't have door glass yet anyway.

I still think they suck lol. I don't smoke, I'll never build a car w/o ac, I've poked my head on my 67's vent window a time or two, and they just clutter up the side view of any vehicle IMHO.
I'm actually surprised there are so many people on here that do like them. I can understand liking them on a period correct car for nostalgic purposes, but considering "pro-touring" is about modern technology and not nostalgia, I would just expect more people to dislike them.
I like them for cruising.....nice flow of air.

We don't need no stinken' vent windows ...... but on some cars - early camaro's, chevy II's & some other classic iron they are A-OK.
I'm going to eliminate them from my 46 ford though ..... I like the modernized look it takes on.
Just my opinion.

I took my vent windows out of my 69 nova and it looks much better. As for the camaros I like them only becuz it was 1 year and its different from the others. I keep the stock 69 doors and just replaced the glass so the interior is still a 69
