My oil pan is leaking on my 68 camaro sbc...

Has anybody replaced the oil pan with the engine still in the car? Maybe I could unbolt the engine mounts and headers and raise the engine up or something to that effect.

This was either a dumb question or no body knew.
regardless...

I was able to do this by unbolting the motor mounts, transmission mount and the exhaust collectors.
I tried it first with just the motor mounts bolts. It was almost enough.
Then I unbolted the exhaust collectors and tranny mount. I was able to raise the engine another inch and the oil pan just fell out.

I will make this suggestion. Fel Pro makes a one piece gasket for the oil pan. I have a earlier model (no ls) motor. These gaskets are considerably higher than regular pan gaskets but you've got to see them to believe them. I was lucky, I got my motor back SBC mounted it on my subframe, which was out of the car, and finished putting everything together I started it tweaked it a bit and found that I was leaking around the aftermarket chrome timing chain cover. The new one piece gasket fixed all my leaking problems. Check it out ....

The one piece did the trick for the pan. I have so much blow by, it looks like it's time for the LS swap...
