Can someone post up a conversion chart between AN and NPT. I need to know what 1/16" NPT and 1/8" NPT would convert to for AN.

I think it would be handy if this conversion chart was stickied for everyone.

Thanks!

That is, unfortunately, a bit misleading.

A -6 AN system does not directly interchange to a 3/8" pipe flow rating. AN hose is rated by the bore size, so that is easy. However, tubing size is rated by the O.D.. It does not take into account the wall thickness of the tubing used. It is not uncommon for a 3/8" pipe to have a bore size of under 5/16" (0.040" wall thickness.)

Also, the fittings are often very restricive. It is common to find that a -6 fitting has a bore size of 0.250 - 0.275".

So, a -8 may seem to match up to a 1/2NPT, but a -10 is much closer to actual 1/2" pipe size.

I'll try to explain where and how I get tripped up, and could also use some sort of chart to make life easier.
I measure a female pipe thread (let's say 1/2"). I buy a 1/2" nipple. It is wayyyy too big. Yes, that's right, the nipple and thread is sized to the inside diameter of the pipe.
I need a chart that will tell me the actual size of a thread for a given pipe size.
Any one?

Thanks Tim, that will save me a few headaches. Not to mention miss-ordered parts.
