Hey guys, I really need some help on ordering my fuel tank for my 70' chevelle,

http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ocatalog/part.asp?VID=1&YearList=1970

Now I need to know if I need 1 vent, 2 or 3 vents and "no vents" ?
I have not dropped the factory tank to see how many factory vent lines there are, but does this really matter? Or is this based on how much fuel you will be circulating out of the tank? High hp motor=more fuel moving=more vents?

Also if this is in the wrong forum section, please move to "fuel injection"

You can run your existing tank with an external fuel pump, unless it is bad. Or if you are going to be road racing autocrossing etc you might want to invest in and efi tank. Ls1 tech has a source for the efi tank that fits your chevelle. I run my stock tank with my ls1 cutlass but it is a street crusier and straight line drag car. good luck

Here are a few links.

The first is my build thread you can see about half way down the first page how I mounted the pump and filter regulator on a channel directly in front of the tank. You want the pump and regulator as close as possible to the tank. The second link has the list of parts I used. There are many other threads. Just ask the question you will get help. Lots of A body guys doing the ls1 swap. I was able to buy a stock fuel tank sending unit that had a 3/8 feed and 1/4 return. Here is the link for the sendiing unit http://www.classiccarautoparts.com/gastank_sending_units3.html

I don't see the dual line unit listed for your 71, but if the 69-70 sending units fit your tank then you could go this route. I spent about 320$ on the entire fuel system which included a custom hi temp hi pressure braided feed line I had built at a local hydraulic shop. They did not have the efi tanks available until recently. I think for a little over twice the cost you can go with a efi tank setup.

70 should be no vent unless you had the emissions stuff on your car. If you are not planning on installing a charcoal canister, go with no vent. We sell the same tank, same price. Love them.

Thanks this is a great help. Do you have a diagram on how you ran the lines. I see on the pic you have one line ti the filter and the other to the pump? is that correct?

Yes. the feed line from the tank is connected to the pump inlet. The return line in the tank is connected to the filter regulator return line. The pump outlet is connected to the filter inlet and the filter outlet is connect to the engine fuel rail.

REALLY? No vents? Wont this cause alot of tank pressure? I only ask because I have no idea.

REALLY? No vents? Wont this cause alot of tank pressure? I only ask because I have no idea. The cap is venting the tank. The other vent ports are strictly for emmissions.
