Just had a thought while i was watching my weekend morning car shows. What happens if I get a flat tire? The spare in the GN wont clear the C5 brakes. C5's dont come with spares because they have run flat tires. Where the heck do I get an 18" spare wheel???????

Vintage Wheel Works might be an option, especially if you can get a blemished one on the cheap.

Triple A AAA

either that.... or always have 100 bucks for a tow.

especially if you don't got on long trips... just keep in mind how often do you get flats? i've never had one... had wheels fall off... but thats abit different.

04-06 GTO spares will fit. I bought 4 to use as rollers on my project.

Corvettes use run-flats.
We had a GTO wreck at the shop the other day. (Totalled) I was going to snag the spare out of it, but when I checked the salvage paperwork it was checked off as being there.

I did a little research and yes the GTO spares work so now I'm on the hunt for a spare. Might have one located in Chicago!

i don't know how different the C5 stuff is, but the original spare tire in my 84 T Type fit over the 12" C4 front brakes i had on my Nova with a ton of room left over. so i went to the junkyard and got a spare out of a different 84 Regal that looked like it had never been taken out of the car to put in the trunk of the Nova, and it was different and didn't clear the caliper. i think GM used whatever spare wheels they had on hand at the factory for the cars going down the line..
then i noticed that AWD Astro vans had a 17" mini spare with dual bolt patterns on it, so i got one of those. that didn't clear, either- in fact, it had less room than the 16" spare from my Regal, and won't even work on my Regal.
the 16" aluminum spare from my 86 Caprice almost cleared, but not quite- which is too bad, since that thing is light. it rides in the trunk of my 74 Monte now.

I thought early C5s has spares. Nuts.

I think that even some of the later C4s didn't have spares.

C4's were available with a 17x4" aluminum compact spare that might work. Backspace is ~3.75" which is a bit much for most of our solid axle type cars and the tyre is 155/70R17, which is ~25.5" in diameter. According to UPS, the total tire + wheel weighs 28 lbs or so.
