everyone knows the advantages of lightweight wheels. wheel manufacturers are always trying to lighten current or future wheel designs without compromising structural integrity.

one thought that popped into my head on the way home from work today is cryogenically treating wheels. with cryogenic treatment, strength can be increased by up to 400%. people have been cryo'ing their cranks, pistons, brake rotors, etc. for a few years now with great results. is this type of treatment in the pipeline for wheels?

I'd be interested in seeing what advantage there would be.
I don't think there will be a 400% gain though. IIRC, what the process does is remove stresses in the material and align the particles. Because most wheels are billet the grain is already aligned and there should be too many stresses.
I'm sure there is an advantage, but I'm not sure it's going to be significant enough to justify the costs.

I was about to respond, but you pretty much summed it up. Thank you.
