So here is the deal. I figure since this is a website that consists of mostly men, we can talk about manly stuff. Although this particular topic applies to women as well. (most women at least)

I am talking about shaving. Those that know me, also know that I tend to go with stubble on my face most of the time. The main reason for this is that I have fairly sensitive skin its hard to shave daily.

Up until now I have been using, what is now old school, dual blade Gillette razor Excell. I like the dual blade because it allows me to get into tight areas, such as under my nose. I've tried the tripple blades and don't care for them.

So the other day I was I saw an online ad for this:

I am not one to fall for online ads, but this really caught my eye. The stick razor has been around for a very long time and at the moment it is totally dominated by Schick and Gillette. One of the brands also owns part of a battery company, hence the reason why you have been seeing battery powered blade razors. (WTF?).

Anyway, it was nice to see an alternative. So I bought the rolling razor. It came in the mail today and I just got done shaving with it. All I can say is that it is the best shave I have ever had. Period, end of story. I am not getting paid. Just sharing my experience for a good product.

While we are at it, I like Azulene oil for an aftershave. It is used mainly as an after waxing treatment, but works awesome as an aftershave, especially if you have dry skin. Sally Beauty supply is the only place I have ever seen it.

Hmmm, I watched the video and it looks like the other blade comes close to his nose. I have cut the living crap out of myself, as I'm always in a hurry. Don't laugh but as I have aged and I'm losing hair on my head its starting to grow in other places. For instance my ears, now when you cut an ear it bleeds and bleeds. I even tried waxing them, after a woman said eventually the hair will get very light and be less of a pain in the a**. well after several weeks I said F**K that and started shaving again. Oh one last thing, I tend to only shave once every three or four days. Hows that for TMI.

And for what it's worth I switched to electric a few years ago and haven't looked back. I use a Norelco Spectra Deluxe Shaver 8894XL with good results. One set of heads was good for over two years, and I have a pretty thick beard.

I got a free sample Gillete 4 blade from a Summit order and was amazed looking at the manufacturing burden of that 4 blade design -- I counted over a dozen seemingly high precision parts just in the cartridge -- makes me want to do a head to head comparison with a straight razor and a safety razor.

I use a Gelette Fusion That I got free in the mail. It has five main blades and a single blade on the back side to get under your nose and to trim sideburns. I have that whole sensitive skin deal too and I love this razor. The blades last a long time if you can keep it away from the wife or girlfriend. I bought some refills and right about the time I was going to get more they sent me another free in the mail.

You're supposed to pluck the ear hairs. It doesn't hurt too much...like plucking nose hairs does. :)

I haven't used a hand held rozor more than 5 times in my life. I always use electric shavers...but I get 5 o'clock shadow at about noon. If I'm going out for a formal dinner, I don't shave in the morning, I just shave before I leave for dinner.

but seriously, I have a sensative skin too, use a 3 blade gilette and only shave on saturdays.....(I have a beard when the weekend starts)
+1 on the ears Tony, thats the way....nose should be cut, back waxed (did that for the holidays so it's easier for my wife to use sunblock:eek:)

Thats the only way to fly. I can't use a straight razor no matter how many blades it has.. my beard is like steel wool. That style of razor is the only thing that works and lets me shave everyday. I've been using a Braun for over 10 years.

I use the Fusion. The blades last forever. I was going to buy the refills, but the entire razor is cheaper with a cupon. Must be the best I have used. But I don't have sensitive skin.......heck, I could shave dry!

In my experience no electric razor can compare in closeness to a blade shave. One other thing that I have found that makes a huge difference is the shaving lotion. I've tried many of the foams and gels, and to date, the best has been a brand called "Kiss My Face." You can find it at Whole Foods and now my local Kroger has it as well.

Not much advise here Andrew. I can use a bic disposable, and no water (dry shave) with no issues. I never use any shaving cream or anything.

I agree Andrew. A razor will give the closest shave, but It's just plain uncomfortable for me. I've too have tried a bunch of different types of razors and creams, but in the end I find that an electric allows me to shave daily and not get the nasty neck rash. If I really push on it the electric will mess up my neck as well.

I do the same as above. Just shave real quick before going out if formality is involved.

Didn't get shaved for the vasectomy, but the doc told me in detail during the proceedure on how to care for the jewels after the proceedure. It's amazing how well I listened to him when my gonads are under the knife.

I find that the best thing is shaving in the shower. The pores are opened and the steam really helps out. I think I read it in Playboy a decade ago. Done it ever since.

I have been shaving in the shower for years to save the time and mess. it is the best way to get the hairs to become softer, especially if you shave at the end of the shower and the shower is hot.

I have also never used shaving creme or lotions. They cost way to much money and have never proven to me to give a closer or more comfortable shave.

My skin will break out in a rash very easily and most of the creams and lotions irritate me to the point that it burns. I really believe that is where the burning irritation comes from the most.

I use Gillette double blade disposable razors for sensitive skin these day with the lotion strip on them because they don't break my face out. They last for 3 to 4 shaves. I used to use Bic disposables years ago with no rash.

I used a Redken Body bar years ago which is like a bar of soap that is all natural and very good for sensitive skin and it makes a thick creamy lather, it is ph balanced and has a scent that women love. they sell for around $5-7. It will also last for a long time. it is what my brother still uses and swears by these days.

Nowdays I use the Rainbath shower and bath soap that is made by Neutrogena. It can be applied to be very lotion like and really softens the hair for me. It is also for sensitive skins and ph balanced. I use this over the Redken Bar because I found it worked and it makes it convienient since it really good for both myself and the wife as a shower soap.

Hey Carl, I am doing as good as can be expected and am going to make an update with pics of the radiation machine they have been cooking me with. Treatments of radiation are very tiring and I stopped the chemo altogether because that crap will kill you and has 90% more bad than good benefits. More to come, and thanks for thinking of me.

Shave with a cheap two-blade right after showering. I too use a concoction of the Kiss-My-Face and some essential oils that my wife makes (she's a massage therapist). Keeps my face nice and smooooth for an old geezer.
