i'd like to eliminate my c-clip on my stock rear end GM 8.5 10bolts with factory brake disc (coming from t/a 79-81). axles are stock replacement with 1.400" diameter.

moser 9200 kit is not compatible with factory disc, so which one is?

thanks

Not sure on that kit, but a local guy used the one that came with their axles and it worked fine.

since c-clip eliminator are not compatible with street car, i don't want to go with. it must be tappered roller bearing, not ball bearing.

I recall changing over to Ford axle tube ends eliminates the need for c-clips.

I'm sure there's kits out there, but I haven't researched it.

I have a C-clip elim kit on a Moser 12 bolt after losing both axles on an '80 Cutlass a few years ago.
Now that I'm looking to put rear disc brakes on the car, I wonder if just having the calipers and brackets in place would do the same thing as the pressed-on Ford ends on the C-clip eliminator kit.:dunno:

with discs why does it matter? if an axle breaks it is still retained by the caliper/pads it may move but it sure wont slide out so why bother? run your c-clips and forget about it

If you want to run 10.99, or below, at an NHRA track you'll still need to get rid of the C-clips. Doesn't matter what type of brakes you're using.

axle is still not coming out either way, if your running that fast probably best to have the Ford ends put on the housing

The axle can come out with disc brakes. I know a guy who lost an axle with disc brakes. It came out and killed a guy who was standing too close to the fence. You can not fully rely on a disc brake to retain the axle.

The weld on Moser housing ends are the best way to eliminate the c clips. These use the press on 9 inch Ford axle bearings, but require new axles that are made for these bearings. You can get these ends with the Chevy brake bolt pattern so that stock brakes can be used. The Ford bearings are available in sealed ball or tapered roller types. Some machine work to the original caliper brackets will be required.
