Hi guys. I picked up what seems to be a fairly tight 69 Firebird. I bought it from a little used car lot in Grapevine,Texas. Somebody had painted it some sort of blue-purple color. I drove it home and parked it in my garage. It has a 350 auto, power steering and manual brakes. I have a slightly modified 428 I want to install with either a 4 or 5 speed. I want to clean up the sub-frame and engine compartment. I,ll need a beefier rear end, disc brakes and all the usual stuff that my pocketbook will allow. I just need to get started!

Sorry about the pictures, I had to reduce them to make them fit. I'll take some more.

I _like_ the idea of a first gen Firebird.
Would love to see better pics.

Welcome. That does look like a solid car from what can be seen in your pics. I'm building a 69 TransAm clone just down the road from you in Argyle. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I've accumulated quite a pile of leftover parts so if you find you need something let me know.

Here is my build:

Congrats! She looks to be a solid find. I'm just down the road from you in Grand Prairie. I have a '69 Firebird 400 that my dad and I restored together back in 1990, and I drove her daily through college. She's a 20/20 car(20 yards away @ 20 mph), but looks good enough to catch a lot of looks and thumbs up. The car has been in storage/garaged for the past 15 years, and we just got her out and started messing with her again just before Christmas. I just fell in love all over again, and have big plans for her(Fikse, Hotchkis, Butler E-headed 455+, Moser etc..etc...). Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and let you know you have a fellow first gen Bird owner in your neck of the woods.

Nice looking car. You'll love that 428...my friend runs an RAIV cammed 428 in his 68 Firebird. He's just changing over to a TKO 5 speed to bring the revs down on highway trips.
Good luck with it.
