I document accident scenes and vehicles involved in litigation. I use 3D laser scanners to create models for juries to see. The equipment is extremely expensive.

I am looking at more recreational uses, like modeling car parts and cars. This service would let people know, not guess, things like the bend angles to snug the roll cage into the A-pillar and roof line, whether the turbos wil fit in the engine bay, etc. Some people will just want every part scanned for documentation.

I can scan a body shell in an hour to about .001" accuracy. Cost is roughly $350/hr. Anybody interested?

So how many hours does it take to scan a body profile?

Let's say...
- Dead side view of whole car
- Cross section of fenders and quarter panels at wheel centerline (if possible)

I'll be honest - I'm a tire kicker (for now anyway).

The biggest problem with these older cars is that the OEM manufactures tolerances were not that tight to begin with then add in 40 years of wear and tear and you can see how making a part a super tight fit does not work all the time.

Where are you located? May be interested in a couple things. Thanks.
