How long would you wait for a large item to be shipped after payment? I sent a paypal payment on oct 20th. Finally got a email later that week said he would ship it out on the 24th. He said he had probs finding enough suitable packing materials then it rained. So I figured fair enough.Got another email on the 29th said he tried to ship it that day freight refused to honor the price quote asked me for some alternative ideas. So I responded back for him to call me which he did on the 31st. We discussed some options he said to give him a couple of days to get it figured out so I called him back tonight and got no answer. I must also admit that I neglected to notice that my paypal address was not my correct shipping address until the 28th. I would still have gotten it just at my house instead of work. Any suggestions would be appreciated I can always do a charge back but prefer to give the benefit of the doubt before I go that far. Sorry for the long story but I felt it was best to state all the facts. Thanks Mike

Do a chargeback. You're well past "giving the benefit of the doubt" territory and well into "scammed" territory, so I'd go ahead and contact PayPal and your credit card company and have the charge removed.
If the item does show up, you can always pay him later, but this sounds like a scam.

Have a little patience. You didn't say what the part was to be shipped. You did say it was a large item and I can assure you that packing large items and feeling good about how they will be treated in transit is nerve wracking no matter how you ship them. The extra time to make sure it is going to be safe will save a lot more time than trying to get a claim solved from the shipper.
Look at how long people wait for wheels and other big items and feel lucky that the part is coming. Not answering back on a friday is not unusual either since things come up and just maybe your not the only one in their life! Have you ever had a bad day caused by someone else?
I hope things work out for the best.
I've always felt that 2 weeks was fine,....3 weeks is the limit of expectations and 4 weeks is either inconsiderate or has scam potential.
I've been in your shoes, for big bucks,....and at this site. Good luck man.

If you talked to him on the 31st (Fri) and it had not shipped yet, then it probably wasn't shipped (if it Was shipped) until this past week. Also, if a larger item going freight (not UPS or FedEx) it could be pot luck when it arrives. Freight companies are notoriously unreliable with schedules. I would not have expected it this week (if freight). I once ordered something from the mid-west (to PA) and expected it in 3 days, it arrived 13 days later. It went via SEATTLE !! I would say a little patience (as long as he Did ship it)

Shipping time is not the problem. The problem is getting it shipped which to my knowledge hasn't been done yet. No tracking # has been given as promised. The part is a full floorpan. I'm thinking about waiting until tuesday at the latest before I head to my bank I figure if I don't get a response by then it's not gonna happen.

I just want you to know that after rereading your post that you said the shipping address was to your house. Your floor pan is not something that can or will normally be delivered to a residential address. Most frieght companies will only deliver to a dock or the local freight drop off and you have to pick it up. If this guy was looking to please you and have it delivered to your door at home he is probably still looking for a freight company that will. There are a couple of companies that might transfer it to a smaller straight bed and get it to your house but the cost is much more. You made the mistake and not him with the address and you are putting the blame on him for something he is probably having trouble solving at a good cost to you.
I wish you luck with the problem you are having and when it comes to sympathy on this one I feel sorry for the guy who is trying to please you. Chalk this one up to the learning curve about truck frieght shipping big awkward items like a floor pan.
It will all work out in the end ,but to make sure you get it for less shipping cost and much sooner you should leave a message to have it shipped to where you work and hope that he hasn't shipped it yet.
Let us know the rest of the story when you are done with this so that others learn from this. I have been down this road before and it can be worked out.
By the way, did you realize that friday was Holloween and that if he had kids he may have had to make the kids happy and take them trick or treating? that's one of the perks of owning your own business you know!
Well said Jim. I've learned that lesson on really large items as well.

If you have the sellers phone #, that is a good sign. If you paid by credit card or paypal, you should have some wiggle room to get your money back if the item is not shipped soon. Chances are he is just having a tough time getting it sent/picked up. He probably wants to get rid of that floor pan as bad as you want to receive it lol.
On a side note, I stopped having items shipped to my house all together. I live in a nice neighborhood, but having my UPS or FedEx packages sitting on my porch all day while I am work left me a little worried that they might accidentally walk off. Instead I went down to the neighborhood UPS Store and got a P.O. Box. The gal behind the counter signs off all incoming packages as "received" and then sends me an email telling me I got something I need to pick up. The largest heaviest item I had shipped there was a T-56 Tranny from Tyler at ATS.

The last time I spoke with was on Halloween and that is when he said give him a couple of days, but I didn't hear anything back from him so I called back last Friday the 7th and left a message. I'm not trying to unjustly accuse him of anything but I at least expect him to call back or send me a pm or email with an update. The freight company quoted him a price for regular ground. Whe he went to ship it they told him it would have to go truck freight. Thats when the problem started.I suggested trying greyhound or I gave him a higher price that I would go up to. That amounted to another 75.00 which would cover all but 50.00 of the new total price. I can buy it here local for that price so I was willing to bump up that high if he was willing to drop his price.I also told him that I didn't expect him to just give it to me so I understand if he doesn't want to go any lower. The other option was a refund and call it done he said to give him a couple of days to figure it out I said no problem. I would gladly have gone to the depot to pick it up had it gone to the wrong address. I may have his phone # but he won't answer or return my calls. I've been polite and cordial in my messages that I have left him by just asking for a update on how it's going. Hopefully this will clarify what I meant in my original post.

Most credit cards only honor a claim if it's made within 30 days of the charge..or maybe it's within 30 days of you getting your statement.
Either way, there's a time limit on doing it, so you should probably call him and let him know that your close to looking into it. He shouldn't have had it listed for sale if he didn't know how he was going to get it to you.

Thanks for the rest of the story and setting the time frame better.
If you can get one that you can see and pickup you will be better off at any price difference. Damage is always going to happen in shipping when it doesn't come in a factory style crate.
Getting your money back and moving on would be best for the both of you at this point from what I have ever experienced. I just hope he doesn't try to get a restocking fee or something ,throwing more fuel on the already heating up fire. He is probably wishing he never said he could ship it and now has lost face to own up to it.
Goodluck

Jim has a good point.
I think you have given the seller a fair amount of time. If he is not returning your calls, then you are better off just moving on and getting a refund.

No answer again today so soon as I get some printer ink I'm off to the bank. They asked if I had any evidence to back up my claim I said yes I do then no ink to print with:banghead: I'll let you know what happens. If he chooses to fight it I will probably make his name public other wise I will keep it private. No reason to make it worse if I don't need to. To be honest I really think he felt bad about the shipping fiasco and wanted to get it done now I'm not sure.
bummer about the printer man! sending ya a PM...

Well I did a little more digging tonight and while reviewing and printing my emails for the bank to use. I noticed that He has deleted the reply to me that he has received payment in every one except the original. Which I have kept along with the pp confimation. So I am sure he is trying to scam me. I know he has access he was on here on the 9th. Pending the outcome of the nice email I sent him you will probably know who he is real quick.

Finally got in contact with him. It appears that shipping issues may be worked out. I will know in a few days for sure.
