Shifter help

First gen camaro conversion using a GTO LS2 and 6 Speed. The GTO Shifter assembly is a linked assembly that puts the physical shifter almost over the rear input shaft. I'm wanting to replace it with aftermarket shifter, either B&M or a Pro 5.0 that will work correctly. I currently have a T56 B&M ripper shifter but it dosn't engage the forks correctly and will not go into top gears. Is anyone using a GTO T56 and what are you using?
