This last week, I was in baja pre-running for the 1000 this month. Pretty late at night on Sunday we were in the middle of the desert and find a pre-runner out of fuel. They were running race fuel and said some was on it's way so we couldn't help. Few miles later, a truck is coming in with jugs of 110 and we stopped to tell them where their buddies are.
We get to chatting, and I ask him what class he's racing, he says trophy class. WTF? he says 'I drive the Trophy Camaro'. Then I realize I'm talking to El Zorro. Basically, he's a big camaro fan, so he put a 69 camaro skin over his trophy truck and he's got a huge fan base. #69 car.
I tell him I'd like a picture with him and he invites us back to their rig after he drops off fuel. It's just the crew and him. Probably the coolest guy ever.
Good luck Francisco.

The guys next to my work build BAJA 1000 trucks.
$300,000 trucks with $4000 shocks that are 4' long!!!!
I've seen them fly out in the street sideways in one without it's skin on and roast the tires down the street. Brutal, and with the 37" tall tires to boot.
Very cool and very tech.
I dig the Camaro theme. Probably faster on a dirt track than most of our cars on pavement. Ugh!

pre ran with a sportsman buggy team, but the car is like a small class 12. our car is a class 18 - sportsman UTV.
taco stand in trinidad on the West side of street couple blocks down from Pemex? oooohhh man, those are unreal. there was another spot in Ensenada with tacos pastor that i kept wandering back to.
you chased last weekend? how'd it go for you?
we ended 80 miles short of finish - we'll be back. i had a great time chasing. i had to go in pretty deep for a couple SOS calls. once on foot with 6 dudes and flashlights for about 1.5 miles to get them out of silt, and the other was about 10 miles offroad in a pickup to get clutches to the car.

Thats the One.... right across from the car wash.....I didnt get a chance to do much in Ensinada except hang out at the Coral... we had a house in Rosarito.. The class one broke a rear hub up near La Romarosa 1st in class 1:45.... Trophy truck lost a motor RM 217 with a 6 min lead.... It was my first time and I loved it I cant wait to go back but living and working in NC limits my chances going to try to do the San Felipe 250 in March

Fransisco is one cool cat... that is for sure. My former shop in Dago has been doing his differential work for years. I chased Ivan for 10 years and Yota always put us up in Estero. I guess that was worth it though... as we were always the leg from the 3 (going to/thru Mike's or Isirdro... or what ever route they used that year) over to the 1 and up to San Vincente.
Talkin about ghetto tacos... how about Ruben's just down the street from the Joker before the turn off for the resort !!

wow, chicane... you were chasin' the big dogs. i haven't tried Ruben's, i'll keep them in mind for next year, but i think it's impossible to hit every one of the tastey taco stands in Baja.

There is a great Mexican joint in Suffolk, VA, just over the border from NC. The Acapulco Frajitas are the best I've ever had. The place even has the right feel and look.
