What should I do with the side gills on my 67 firebird?
I am shaving all the emblems and what not but am unsure about the side gills. I am debating shaving these as well but dont know how it would look without them, as it would just be "dents".
Any thoughts?
Only chrome would be window mouldings, bumpers, handels/locks and wheels.

You could paint them.

Didnt think of that, it might look like I just hosed over them while painting though, although maybe I could make gaskets to go underneath so it looks like it is supposed to be that way.

I'm making mine functional! I'm sure they won't be very efficient but it's something different.

I f you delete them I would think about smoothing the 1/4> that would probably look alot nicer than just deleting them. If you paint them how about a contrasting color to your prmary color. Like matching to your wheels or stripes? Or maybe some black chrome.

You know a charcoal grey would look cool. Hmmm choices.
I prefer the large gills of the camaro, these are so small.. I like the idea of them but the chrome strips are a little out of place i think.

i've seen firebirds with the dents and no trim pieces. i think they look fine. i personally wouldn't smooth the 1/4s as Mikey suggested. i've also seen a 68 firebird with camaro 1/4s and i think it just looks weird. plus i'm a pontiac guy so it seems silly to make a firebird look more like a camaro

I can see the improvement of deleting the wheel lip mouldings, but the quarter vents,,,,,aaaahhhhhh, not for me. Your car though. If you like it go for it.

Ok, i think that car sealed the deal for my to leave them in chrome. I am not doing wheel well chrome, drip molding chrome, or rocker panel chrome as of now, we'll see after paint, I have them all in good shape so I can go either way. Also I was debating a rear spoiler but that car looks too good without one.
I'm doing 70+ trans am rearview mirrors and the stock black front spoiler.
Thanks for the link.

Yeah George,
I said the same thing. I would have deleted the wheel lip molding too, but since I am not painting my car yet I have to keep them to cover any scratches hidden underneath. I will check mine out when I remove them to put new ones on. I just love her car. I am using a lot of the same ideas. I just wish I could get Year One to give me the build sheet. I am still waiting for it.
Now I am going to keep the Sprint molding just to keep it a sleeper. Think anyone will still think it is a OHC6?
