Anyone see the latest C&D mag? They compared the three Vettes, and honestly I'm not that impressed with the difference between the ZR1 and Z06. Seems to me the better deal is the Z06, and keep the change from not buying the ZR1 and put it in your car!

Yeah I have not been impressed with the ZR1, with as much talk that this car has had I was expecting a absolute beast. I was doing some number crunching the other day, the new cts-v has 550hp and is 4200, the ZR1 has 600+ and can't weigh but about 3500-3600 some where around there. The cts-v was less then 30 seconds slower then the ZR1 at the ring. A four door sedan 30 seconds off the ZR1 thats saying something.

Just keep in mind too that the $105,000 is the MSRP with the "S" being the key letter. Jalopnik has reported dealers adding anywhere from $85,000 - 250,000 to the sticker!

I think the problem with the #'s on the zr1 right now and even the z06 are the tire limits. The z06 can doing 2nd gear rolling burn outs on the goodyear runflats, the pilot sports on the zr1 are better but no match for the extra hp an torque... 75mph 3rd gear burnouts from one write-up I saw. Give it a few months for some people to run the cars with sticky tires at the drag strips and slicks on the road course and I'm sure comparison times will be up... the zr1 should be a good bit faster, 135hp more, granted 200lbs heavier. (z06 is 3150 w/o the driver)

I will take a used C6 Z for $45k and save the $65k. On second thought I will keep my C5Z and pocket $90k!!!! YEAH now that is a plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of people can run the 100m under 11 seconds. There are only a few that can do it under 10 seconds.

The faster you get the more difficult it becomes to gain some time. Look at the direct competitors numbers and you'll see that the ZR1 'ring times are pretty impressive.

That said, I don't want a car that looks like it stole some parts of a Transformer. . . . .
