I've posted this over on LS1tech as well, but I remember some folks were running this engine at the last RTTH event, so hopefully some of you can help me out:
I blew up my LS1, and I'm going to swap in an L92 crate motor into my 4th gen (2001 Z28). I already did an ASA cam swap in the old car, and I assumed that this cam would 'choke' the motor since it was designed to run in a 5.7 car. Lo and behold that GMPP is using this very cam in the LS3 / 515 crate motor.
My question is (if the cam can be salvaged), would it be worth it to swap it into the L92? (Yes, I know there are better cams, and I may run one anyway, but I'd like to know the answer). The car is an autocrosser, so I'm more interested in under the curve power than outright dyno numbers.
My second question is why is this cam still being used on the bigger engine, and what hp / torque numbers should I expect from it in the larger cube engine?
Thanks in advance!
