It's time again to terrorize the Angeles Crest Highway, have a great breakfast, and spend some time bench racing with a bunch of fellow gearheads.
As before we will be meeting at the Shell station at the Angeles Crest Highway exit off the 210 freeway at 6:30am. The 27-mile winding-road drive is a thrill (if you want it to be,) as are the scenic views and the great food at Newcomb's Ranch. Bring any car you want. Heck, don't bring a car at all and hitch a ride with one of the others. I'm hitching since my car is out of commission.

Carl,
can I get you to drive my car up or down ACH that day? I need some feedback on a few things.

If it's not raining or snowing over the Grapevine I'm in. Picked up a camera mount from Chasecam at SEMA so I can take the rear and film without getting my passenger sick.:drive1:

Yup. It's all I have roadworthy right now. Although the big brown truck has been making some very large deliveries :jump: for the Camaro this week so sometime after Christmas break the Camaro might be back on the road. Hopefully I'll be able to talk the wife into bringing her 69 Chevelle too this time.

I ask you to drive my car and I get bupkis; Rick asks you to and you're drooling all over yourself. Boy!
By the way, I'll be there. I might even have a real live dyno tune on the car by then. Who knows, maybe it'll get out of its own way . . .

In. The weather was beautiful up there yesterday. The Z51 C6 did hurt my opinion either.

How did it go? I had a last minute issue. Nothing car related. Can we get a new date going?

There were 4 cars weather was nice CHP was everywhere and I was severally hung over, it was a good thing that Carl drove my car up to the restaurant.
Carl thanks for the feedback, I will be calling Frank today and ordering a hydraboost.
So when’s the next trip?

My pleasure Rick! It's a great car.
You may still need to tune the pedal feel with different MC's once you get the HB. All too often people go overboard and make the pedal too sensitive, and that will get you in a bunch of trouble on Angeles Crest.

Another great run! This time we even managed to avoid any run ins with the police :)
I brought the camera but got only 3 pics because the battery died. I also managed to get some more silly footage of me driving one handed following CarlC piloting rsk68's Camaro. It's actually a bit better picture and sound quality than the last one but still suffers from my shaky arm lol. It's uploading to youtube and then I'll post it.
Here's a couple of pics:

I had a blast running up the Crest, but on the way down the CHP was out in force. A couple of the motorcycles gave warning of the hiding Chippies. Man my car looks great in pictures, you can't tell the paint is wasted.

EDIT: ok I'm leaving the youtube video but the vimeo version two posts down is much better.
Ok so apparently I lied. Just got done uploading the video and while it looks great on my computer and the shakiness isn't as bad, once on YT it looks like crap.
At least even though I'm driving and filming I manage not to film the dash for long periods of time like some videos I've seen from passengers lol.

Vimeo embed code doesn't work but here is a link to a better resolution and FPS video thats the same I posted above.

PS vimeo >>>> youtube.
Oh and don't worry Rick, Carl ditched me later on in the drive up. Once the sun hit I slowed way down and after we got out of the spot that the sun is bad on Carl was gone and I had no lead car to cheat with :p
Besides there are more capable cars that do that drive that I know can out corner me.

I can one hand the first part of the run up to just a little past the saddle and then the last couple miles into Newcombs. It is alsways cool to see video of the runs. Damn I hope these upcoming interviews go well.

Hey Chad, check out the vid at 1:49. The angle of your keys is pretty cool.
Rick, your car had a lot more in it. I'll beat on my own car.
