I was bored of driving a truck every day, so I got something a little more economical. Should be easier to park also.
2009 Z06, cyber gray, 2LZ, red/black interior, comp gray wheels. Picked it up for a little more than $10,000 off MSRP. Good time to be a buyer!

Still putting some break-in miles on it, only has 25 right now. I can't wait to romp it at 7K rpm once the recommended 500 miles hits. :6gears:

Jimmy, I still have the Viper. It is a fun hotrod, but attracts way too much attention as a daily driver. Corvettes are like belly buttons here in Houston, they do not stand out or attract too much attention. Kind of like a stealth bomber of daily-drivers.

What does the break in period help prevent? My thoughts - potential excessive local thermal issues. The wearing-in of parts that move against each other creates extra heat until the surfaces are "friendly" with each other on a microscopic scale. That would add to the heat generated from unequal expansion due to different materials being involved and unequal rates of heating up as you use the motor harder and at more revs that happens anyway.
There is some argument that by running it hard early gives you a little more power than an easy break-in might, but nobody who suggests this seems to ever mention longevity. Then again, race engines aren't expected to be 100,000 mile devices.

So what brand of your wheels you gonna put on that baby?
Haven't decided yet. I'll browse at SEMA to see if anything new comes out. I actually like the factory wheels quite a bit on this car, which is unusual for me.
My thoughts - potential excessive local thermal issues. The wearing-in of parts that move against each other creates extra heat until the surfaces are "friendly" with each other on a microscopic scale.
This is exactly the reason new cars shouldn't be beat on. It is more related to the drivetrain than the engine. The engines are already bench-tested prior to being installed. The tranny gears, rear axle gears, all your bearings, etc... need proper heat cycles to break in properly and mesh with eachother. This will improve wear longevity and mesh efficiency later on.
wanna let me have it for a hot date on Friday?
How hot is she? I'd consider trading you the car for a hot date, but the wife would probably say "no".
wow I want one, i whent on line to check MSRP its like 87K
MSRP on this car was $76.7K, I got it for $66.3K, which is GM employee pricing. Visit the dealer forum over on Corvetteforum.com to see some killer deals on new Corvettes.

Tony I've been watching you buy and sell some of the most exotic cars known to mankind on this site over the years and I can't help but wonder where the hell I went wrong in life.
Once again....nice score my friend.
And thank you for your patronage. I only hope we (GM) will be around next year should you ever need to have it serviced.
I kid. I kid. Of course we will.
.....I hope. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2005/09/paranoid-1.gif

Tony, I don't trust dealerships to work on my cars. Especially the performance cars. I have my own set of service manuals for each car, and will attempt to repair things myself most of the time if it is something simple. Everything but electronics, that stuff I take in for warranty.

I can help you with this one, wrong profession, better college education, no kids, better demographic area for a job,
Enjoy what you have and live through what other people buy on the board!
Nice car,
