Does any one know of a kit (brackets) to install LS1 brakes on a 83 Monte Carlo spindle...just like the 69 Camaro install? Please advise and thanks in advance for your response!

The 69 Camaro spindles you are referring to are probably originally for drum brakes. That spindle only needs a bracket to adapt to the LS1 caliper bracket. The Monte spindle will need to be machined to cut off the caliper mounting ears & to enlarge a couple of the dust shield holes & retap them.

I started to go that route with mine but decided to go a different route.

As for the bracket to go your route, check the internet for "ebmiller", I believe he has them.

Kore3 has a kit that uses c-5 calipers, which i beleave is the same as the f-body. Unless you step up to the Z06.

www.kore3.com (http://www.kore3.com) Ibeleave this is there web page.

Thanks for the props, but we only make kits for the C5/C6 components and they're not the same as the 98-02 F-body components. The caliper bodies are interchangeable, but that's about it. We don't currently offer kits for the OE G-body spindles due in large part to their less than ideal factory geometry.

The best bang for the buck setup for the G-body application available at this time would be the ATS AFX spindle kit with the G-body steering arms IMHO. Then C5/C6 brakes are a bolt-on deal and you get greatly improved front end geometry. I'd suggest calling Tyler at ATS or Mark at SC&C if this is of interest to you.

Samckitt, if you don't mind me asking, which spindle did you end up using? I'm looking for something now. Excuse my ignorance but is the S-10 spindle the same as the Monte Carlo spindle? Just read your signature, are you still using the ZQ8 spindle?

thanks,
Paul

I had my guy modify stock g-body spindles to fit LS1 brakes. PM me if you want his email, I"m sure he'll sell you a set of brackets. And the SC&C Stage 1 or 2 helps the geometry a lot. Otherwise the AFX spindles sound like the way to go.

I have 98-02 S10 Blazer knuckles. They are a direct swap for factory Monte setup but have a slip on rotor similar to the way the Vette is setup.
The truck spindles are the same as the Monte, they will not work for this setup easily. I'll look for some pics & post them.

I agree the ATS spindles are "IT", but are a little costly.

There's a guy on here that can probably modify the spindles and make the brackets. I'll try to get him over here...
